We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rainbow City Park. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Rainbow City Park, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
We recently played Goldfield Roseville and had an amazing set. We were extremely proud of the evening as a whole and excited about a new tune that we felt was well received!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We’re Rainbow City Park, an indie rock band based out of Sacramento, Davis and San Francisco, CA. We put out our debut EP, ‘Fruitless’ in February and had a busy year touring to support the collection. We’re wrapping up our show schedule for 2025 and we’re extremely excited to get back into the studio in January to record new material.
RCP consists of Danielle Judith (lead vocals, guitar), Chris O’Keefe (guitar), Nick Nassab (guitar, backing vocals), Ryan Williams (drums) and Jake Kaspari (bass).
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
We’re so grateful to have connected. The five of us have such different musical backgrounds and came together in early 2022 during a time when each of us was testing out the musical market for something new. We had a bit of a non-traditional beginning, centered around Chris (guitar) recruiting musicians to form a band. The fact that we did not have a friendship history and have had to grow together over the past 3 years has been really special.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
We had a challenging end to 2024. We added Jake (bass) to start 2025 and he has been such a breath of fresh air to help us reimagine the project. The new blood and expertise helped us get excited again after a brief stagnant period to close out last year.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The music industry is a strange place, and like all bands, we’ve had to navigate what works for us. When we put out ‘Fruitless’ in February, we explored a bunch of variations of how we wanted to roll everything out. We thought about individual singles and different ways to highlight particular songs. We ended up just releasing the entire collection together. Perhaps doing a longer roll out with multiple touches to our fan base could have benefited us from a marketing perspective, but we felt the songs needed to be shared as a collection.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
The past few months we’ve had many sit-downs to discuss our approach for next year. We took a deep look at all the things that make this band go, both musical and operational. Through this process, we’ve become a more collaborative unit and this may be the most excited we’ve ever been. We have a bunch of new songs we’re set to record in January, and we’re planning out really creative ways to perform/showcase all our hard work.
