Rebecca Heidt-Stitt shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Rebecca, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Energy is most important because intelligence and integrity can be based off perspective and opinion. Someone’s energy is their authentic self and intention.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Rebecca Heidt, LGBTQ self published author, painter, and filmmaker. I mostly work with Indie artists in all art forms to collab on projects. Most importantly, I lend a hand to newer authors, painters, and filmmakers based on my experiences and mentor them to help build confidence. I work with a lot of LGBTQ and neuro spicy individuals to help harness their personal authenticity.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a child who at dry cereal without milk, thought a piggy bank of pennies were enough to live off of, and when I was bored I’d cut grass with scissors or make a bow and arrow out of twigs. My imagination was vivid, my curiosity was high, and had a hard time understanding why when I did certain things other people didn’t like it.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain when I realized it hurt holding it in and that I wasn’t the only one hurting this badly. Physical ailment can manifest off of mental and emotional pain if held within for long periods of time. I wasn’t interested in seeing doctors all the time. Once I started to let more of it go and sharing more with strangers or friends, I realized they weren’t that much different just quiet. I learned how to be more confident in sharing my pains through being guests on podcast interviews.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
That being open and authentic with other people is important up to the point our psyche allows. Society has harden us and also taught us to take advantage of each other. Even though we’re hurt over and over when meeting new people remain open hearted until they show who they are and modify accordingly. We’re not meant to be friends or energetically attached to everyone, it’s okay to say no. If your energy is telling you something is wrong with a situation or a person, trust it. Sometimes the brain thinks it’s smarter than intuition and it’s usually what gets you further trouble.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I fought for what I believed in, for the people I trusted, and grew from my failures in a professional and personal setting. And that I loved all animals and nature without measure. Essentially that I’m a sentimental emotionalist with fierce boundaries.
