Risk Taking & Saying Goodbye To Comfort Zones

Taking risk is natural for some, but in our experience most successful risk takers gradually developed their ability to leave comfort zones and take risk and we’ve asked them to share their experiences and advice below.

From an early age, I found myself surrounded by people who were complaining about their experiences, but not doing anything different to change them. Read more>>

“Taking the risk” is something that not everyone is willing to do, however, from my point of view, life is about taking risks. I remember that when I started my first business I had absolutely no business knowledge, I knew nothing about taxes, business license, absolutely nothing, however I really wanted to get ahead, I knew that if I didn’t take risks, no one was going to take it for me. I’ve always been naturally reserved and hesitant to pursue anything I believed I might fail at, out of fear of embarrassment and failure. However, I reached a point where living as a mere shell of my purpose was no longer acceptable; I needed to discover my true potential. That marked the beginning of my journey towards embracing risk-taking and personal growth. Right from the start, I was confronted by my passions and encountered people who encouraged me to break through my self-imposed limitations. Read more>>

Oh gosh, this is something I’ll probably always be working on, but I’ve tried to develop a healthy balance between seeking comfort and taking risks. Although most of us tend to shy away from risks (sometimes for good reason), stepping outside of our comfort zone and doing uncomfortable things is how we grow! On the flip side of the coin, for me it’s been very important to have safe spaces to process those experiences in order to glean the lessons I need to learn. Read more>>

I feel like everything in the world is scary , everything seems hard and there’s always a “what if” but if I don’t at least try then how can I make the goals I have a reality. I think you just have to go for it and figure things out along the way. Read more>>

Throughout my life, I’ve encountered challenges and hardships, and each one has played a significant role in shaping the person I am today. My father was in the military, which required our family to relocate to new cities almost every year. I was often the outsider in my new community and I had to find the strength within myself to overcome my fears (of meeting new people, trying new activities, and testing out my abilities).  Read more>>

I was born with it. I was the little kid that figured out how to open doors early, who built a ramp to ride her bike off the front porch , who snuck outside in the dark to ghost hunt. Fear was never a thing for me. I always thought maybe in another life I was a Genghis Khan afraid of nothing and no one Read more>>

That’s a great question. I think I got to a certain stage in my life where I felt that there is never a perfect time, and if I didn’t take risks and try new things, I would never get the opportunity to do so. My parents immigrated to the United States before I was born, and I witnessed first hand the risks they took to help establish their lives in this country and provide for my sister and I. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized the sacrifices that they made as well as the risks they took to better their lives and make my life easier. Read more>>

It’s funny, there are so many times when I am on a photo shoot and I know I can make the photo better if I do something that’s a little bit risky or scary. I just think to myself if I can get through the next few seconds of fear, I will have an amazing photograph that breaks creative boundaries. One time on a shoot for Vogue Italy, we were at the historic Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood on the roof at night, and I said to the photographer imagine how amazing it would be if I climbed up the sign? He immediately said, “No it’s too dangerous.“ Read more>>

In short, taking chances or risks is instilled in me from a young age. As a young kid of 3 years old I started taking tennis lessons, which developed into being ranked in the top of the country in my age group for almost a decade. After that I moved to The USA to play D1 college tennis, at the young age of 16 I moved 6000 miles away from home, barely speaking English. Read more>>

I developed my ability to take risks, by just simply taking one. When I first started my brand that was a risk itself, but I knew I wanted to have my own business. So I vowed to myself on my 25th birthday I would gift myself inventory to start it up and that’s exactly what I did. I’m 3 years in and I’m literally a risk taker. I’m not scared to take risks because I’ve seen what it can do. Read more>>

Developing my ability to take risks had to and still has been my biggest obstacle of all throughout my entrepreneurial career. It took six years alone just to take the risk of starting because of that inability. When I did finally begin to overcome, it was because I finally had enough of pondering and daydreaming about it! I feel that somehow I always had something in me that feels comfortable about taking risks, and I just became more confident with time and taking more risks. Not all risks deliver wanted results but they do deliver valuable lessons. Most of those realizations place you on a path that feels more you than initially thought it should be. Nowadays I love taking risks to see where it will lead me, what will I learn, and who will I become. Read more>>
