Robert Trumper shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Robert, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
EcoServants® is forging a bold new path toward global environmental sustainability. My name is Robert Trumper and I founded EcoServants with my longtime friend, Mr. Jason Joslyn, after both of us overcame immense challenges that shaped our strength, our resolve, and our commitment to making a difference. As we approach 2026, in the midst of escalating environmental challenges, our mission has never been more urgent. What began as a simple local cleanup in San Diego has grown into a global movement—uniting communities, inspiring action, and building lasting change for the Earth we all share.
The path we are building at EcoServants is more than visionary—it’s essential for the future of our planet. Website: https://ecoservantsproject.org/
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Robert Trumper, I am the Founder, President and CEO of the Ecological Servants Project—known to most simply as EcoServants, ESP, or EcoServants Project. From the beginning, my vision has always been global: to unite communities in a shared mission to protect and restore the Earth. I have been honored to lead this mission alongside my life-long friend and fellow founder Mr. Jason Joslyn, our Secretary and Treasurer, whose dedication and expertise have helped bring our work to life. Together we guide a movement that blends faith, passion, action, and innovation to create measurable change.
EcoServants® is a federally registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in San Diego and serving communities worldwide. Our mission is simple yet urgent: to preserve the Earth for future generations. Rooted in the values of Green Christianity, we believe caring for creation is both a sacred calling and a shared human responsibility. We act on this belief through community cleanup initiatives, international tree-planting projects, and invasive species removal.
Our hands-on programs are designed to deliver lasting benefits for people of all ages and backgrounds. Learn more about our mission and global impact at: https://ecoservantsproject.org/programs/
Since 2020, EcoServants has mobilized climate action volunteers from San Diego to Los Angeles, across the nation and beyond—tackling pollution, addressing climate change, fighting hunger and thirst, and inspiring environmental stewardship. We’ve pioneered environmental volunteer opportunities that allow people anywhere in the world to participate in ecological restoration—removing litter, eradicating invasive plants, and revitalizing local habitats—no matter where they live. To increase the impact of these projects, our team developed custom environmental impact reporting software. Traditional paper tracking often leads to errors, illegible data, and lost records.
ESP’s digital CSR software ensures accurate, consistent and shareable reporting.
Additionally, EcoServants® is shaping the future of environmental leadership through our sustainability internship programs. These virtual environmental internships and remote conservation internships offer hands-on environmental experience in community engagement, content creation, grant writing, technology development, data analysis and more.

San Diego is our home, but our reach—and our responsibility—has no borders. Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
God saw us before anyone else– EcoServants® was born through the inspiration of God. He placed a shared calling in the hearts of both founders, guiding us to fulfill our purpose and stand firm—no matter the weight of the world.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If our future self could speak to our younger self, we’d say, “You have no idea how far this is going to go—don’t stop.” I remember you—two best friends, most days just standing with a couple of litter pickers in hand, garbage bags full over each shoulder in a place once known as “The Four Corners of Death”. A rough past behind you, a dream bigger than your circumstances ahead of you. No donors. No volunteers. No name recognition. Just faith, friendship, and the conviction that caring for the Earth was worth everything you had. Whenever we hosted an event we’d set up that old picnic table and maybe two or three people would show—but we showed up strong every time.
We’d tell our younger selves that one day, EcoServants would grow into a federally registered environmental nonprofit organization with a global reach—leading international community cleanup initiatives, offering environmental volunteer opportunities, and creating virtual environmental internships and sustainability internship programs so people anywhere in the world could gain hands-on environmental experience and start a meaningful career path. We’d tell our younger selves that the movement we’re starting will be powered by millions of hearts, supported by innovative tools and joined by people across the globe who care just as deeply as we do. That those quiet, early days? All the days skipping out on parties and clubs to scale? They are the foundation of a story that will change lives—and change the Earth for the better.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
At EcoServants®, there’s one belief we’ll never let go of—no matter how long it takes—and that’s fulfilling our vision in its entirety. Since launching in 2020 we’ve made incredible strides but we’re just getting started– our mission goes far beyond cleanups. We’re improving the entire environmental landscape through campaigns like No Child Go Hungry, building community gardens, distributing fresh food, and launching water access solutions for underserved areas. We’re also tackling waste reduction, promoting eco-education, and creating real opportunities for people to lead and serve. It won’t happen overnight—but we move fast and we’re committed to seeing it through.
If you share our belief that everyone deserves access to clean water, fresh food, and a healthy planet donate today: https://ecoservantsproject.org/donate/
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Since day one, EcoServants® has worked tirelessly—day in and day out—to make the world a cleaner, healthier place; without expecting any recognition. Praise has never fueled this environmental nonprofit organization; purpose has. Our mission is bigger than any one person and we believe everyone can play a role in creating positive change. We don’t ask for likes or applause—we ask that you join us through community cleanup initiatives, donate to help support our programs, take part in environmental volunteer opportunities or get involved in our virtual environmental internship or sustainability internship programs.
Together, we can all do our part to protect the Earth for future generations.
