S. F. Rogers on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to S. F. Rogers. Check out our conversation below.

S. F., a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Coffee, and staring into the abyss until my brain begins firing on all cylinders. Then I decide if I’m going to write or read for the day!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey there! I’m S. F. Rogers, I’m an independent author of Fantasy Romance. I am a big outdoors girl where you can typically find my hiking or camping. When I’m not doing that I’m holed up in my house with my dogs, writing!

I’m currently working on Book 3 in my Lilac Cursebreaker series and working through edits on a contemporary romance novel.

I also just got started playing D&D and by the end of November will be in 3 campaigns.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My best friend Aliyah. She knew just what to tell me when I started this whole writing journey. I was so scared to put my work and my heart out there but she kept reminding me to, “Do it scared!”

I owe her so much for her constant support and voice in the darkest moments just cheering me on!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Girl, we are doing this crazy thing! You are staying at home writing and it’s going so well! You’ve made a host of new friends and colleagues who push you to be better every day. Don’t listen to the naysayers that tell you that this dream will never work.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That you are the only person who struggles with feeling like you don’t belong or that you aren’t good enough.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of us deals with that. The notion that your work isn’t worth it and you should just scrap the whole project. Keep pushing and moving forward!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I lived my adventure dreams, I created worlds that they loved to escape to, and characters that they wished they could be!
