Scarlett Ekeroma, MA, LMFT, CMHP of Seattle on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Scarlett Ekeroma, MA, LMFT, CMHP. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Scarlett, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is a mix of running two businesses, being a parent, and making sure I take care of myself too. I usually start my mornings slow—with prayer and quiet time with God—before writing out my to-do list. From there, no two days ever look the same. Some days I’m holding space for clients in therapy sessions, other days I’m in the kitchen baking or preparing goods for the farmers’ market, and often I’m in business meetings—sometimes it’s all three! I also make it a priority to create space for connection, whether that’s checking in with family and friends, taking a walk outside, going to the gym, or simply pausing to breathe. My days are definitely full, but I try to move through them with purpose, gratitude, and joy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Scarlett Ekeroma, and I wear a few different hats that all connect back to my passion for helping and uplifting others. I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and the founder of Elevate Healing (EH), LLC, an online private practice where I support individuals and families in their journeys toward inner healing and growth. What makes EH unique is I bring both my professional expertise and my cultural background as a Pacific Islander into the work, creating a space that values inclusivity, authenticity, and cultural humility.

Alongside my therapy practice, I also run Tasi’s Sweet Delights (TSD), LLC, a gluten-free baking business that started as a creative outlet and has grown into a way to spread joy through food. I specialize in gluten-free cookies and treats that are so delicious, you won’t believe they’re gluten-free! You’ll often find me at local farmers’ markets, where I love connecting with the community and sharing baked goods that bring comfort and smiles.

Balancing both businesses keeps me busy, but they represent different sides of who I am—one focused on emotional and mental nourishment, and the other on the sweetness of physical nourishment. Both are rooted in connection, care, and creating something meaningful for others. Right now, I’m especially excited about expanding my offerings in both spaces: developing new workshops with organizations through EH, and growing TSD to reach even more people who love good treats they can feel good about enjoying.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was becoming the captain of my varsity high school volleyball team as a freshman. I remember feeling a little lost, yet at the same time recognizing the belief my coaches had in me and that my focus and hard work had earned the respect and trust of both my coaches and teammates. That experience taught me that true strength comes from within—through preparation, perseverance, and believing in yourself.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be: your voice matters, and you will rise to the top. Trust in God’s plan for you, and don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself. The challenging moments will shape you into the compassionate, strong, and purposeful woman you are meant to become.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest misconceptions in the mental health industry is the idea that therapists always have it all together. The truth is, we’re human too—we experience challenges, struggles, and growth just like our clients. Another common misconception is that healing looks the same for everyone or follows a straight path. In reality, healing is deeply personal, nonlinear, and often messy—and that’s okay.

On the business side, especially with something like baking, a common myth is that gluten-free means flavorless or boring. With Tasi’s Sweet Delights, I love breaking that myth wide open—my cookies are proof that gluten-free can be just as delicious (if not more so) than traditional baked goods.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace in the quiet moments—usually early in the morning during prayer and reflection with God, and/or when I’m near the ocean or a large body of water where I can simply breathe without distraction. I also find peace when I’m baking or creating, because it allows me to be fully present and pour love into what I’m doing. And of course, quality time with family & friends always grounds me—it’s in those simple, everyday connections that I feel the deepest sense of peace.
