We recently had the chance to connect with She Wyse and have shared our conversation below.
She , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
As a female rapper, people often think you won’t progress or achieve much, like your grind somehow means less. Because of that mindset, many investors hesitate to put their trust or money behind female artists and invest more . But I think that’s a deep misunderstanding of the music business. The female side of this industry holds just as much power, creativity, and market value , it’s just waiting for the right people to see it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Born in Accra, Ghana on May 21, 2004, She Wyse (real name Princess Bossman) is a rising female rapper who’s proving that talent knows no gender limits. Starting her journey as a young freestyle prodigy in basic school, she grew into an artist with a unique voice blending hip-hop, trap, and Ghanaian roots. Her first professional track, “Mind Language,” became a breakout moment — not only catching local attention but also landing in the UK Netflix series called Top Boy, a rare accomplishment for an artist so young. Since then, She Wyse has released captivating records like Odoyewu, God No Go Shame Us featuring KiD B, Dream Chaser, Did You, and Wiase Yɛ Spooky, each reflecting raw storytelling and lyrical depth drawn from real-life experiences. Beyond her national growth, She Wyse has expanded her reach globally through three international collaborations — one with a UK artist, another with a USA artist, and one from Turkey — marking her as a versatile global voice in the new age of African hip-hop. Right now, She Wyse is working on her highly anticipated EP, which will feature six songs, including one collaboration with a popular Ghanaian superstar, set for release in 2026. Despite the bias many female rappers face in the industry and the lack of investor confidence in female artistry, She Wyse’s journey challenges those stereotypes, proving that the female side of the music business is powerful, marketable, and ready to dominate the global stage with authenticity, grit, and unmatched energy.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before I found my voice in music, I was a footballer. The game taught me discipline, focus, and how to push beyond limits ,lessons that still shape my mindset today. Along the way, I also discovered my love for visual arts, diving into videography and photography. Even now, I still do that part-time because it allows me to express creativity from another perspective capturing stories through the lens just like I tell them through my music.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, I almost gave up when I lost my little brother and fell into depression. This made me stop doing music for two years, but I’m glad I was able to bounce back — and I’m here today, stronger than ever.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Honestly, the public version of me is real — what you see is truly who I am. But I’ll say this, the music side of me is a bit different from who I am in real life. In person, I’m actually a pretty shy and quiet person, I keep to myself a lot. But when it comes to music, it’s like I step into another space — I do it purely for the love of the game. That’s where I express everything I can’t always say out loud.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I only had ten years left, I’d stop being shy. I’d push myself to do all the things I’ve been holding back from. I’d stop trying to please people and stop caring so much about what others think. Life’s too short to live for opinions — I’d rather spend every moment being real, fearless, and true to myself.
