Good morning Shemica S,., we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day is spent in meetings with clients, reviewing student paperwork, playing/walking my two goldendoodles, and enjoying the day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Shemica S. Allen is the owner of Personalized Learning Solutions, LLC, and a former educator with over 15 years of teaching and administration experience working with students with disabilities and their parents/guardians. She has been in business for over 13 years helping parents in Texas and other states. Shemica received her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in Adapted Physical Activity from Texas Christian University. She was named to the Continuing Advisory Committee for Special Education (CAC) for Texas in December 2017 to help make decisions that will improve Special Education in the state. She served on the committee until 2022. Shemica is now a Special Education Advocate Training (SEAT) 1.0 & 2.0, Louisiana Special Education Advocacy Training for Parents & Business of Special Education Advocacy Instructor for the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA) where she helps to train others to advocate for students with disabilities. Her philosophy is to work collaboratively with schools as well as to help parents/guardians develop a mutually trusting and respectful relationship with the school so the child can be better served. Shemica has extensive experience working with parents & schools in IEP/ARD committee meetings & Section 504 Plan meetings which requires effective communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution. She has also published an eBook titled Ridiculous & Red-Flag Statements Said At IEP Meetings that is available on Amazon.

Personalized Learning Solutions, LLC is an educational consulting firm specializing in providing special education advocacy and consultation services to parents/guardians as well as trainings to parents & educational professionals. The overall mission of Personalized Learning Solutions is to assist parents/guardians of students with special needs in their quest for a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws protecting children with disabilities. We are seriously committed to building and supporting a collaborative team of parents/guardians, advocate, school personnel, and community resources with an emphasis on continuous assessment of the child’s educational needs in all settings while supporting and guiding the parents/guardians through the Special Education process.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My mother taught me the most about working which included having a good work ethic as well as being dependable, hardworking, and a positive team member.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
One thing I would tell my younger self is to go for your dreams and everything you does not have to be perfect. Try new things, learn new things, explore, and expand your mind.

Most definitely…the public version of me is the real me. I do not have the energy or time to be multiple versions. The Shemica S. Allen you meet is the best version of me.

If I retired tomorrow my clients would miss my determination and tenacity I use to fight for the educational rights of their children.
