It can be a really awful feeling when you’re working on a project and you get stuck but I also think that it’s a natural part of the creative process. Accepting that inspiration is something that will come and go has been really important for me. I used to worry a lot about creativity blocks but worrying about it has never made me get over them any faster, it’s just made me less excited about the project I’m working on. My perspective on writers block has changed a lot through out the years. I always thought writers block really meant that I couldnt find words or topics to write about and that I lost my voice. The more I do the songwriting thing though, I am realizing that when I feel writers block, more often than not, my brain is trying to find a solution to a lyric or a story or a melody that I feel really passionate about. To overcome/beat creativity blocks aka writer block I normally set a small goal. I break down the writing task into smaller, manageable parts. Sometimes writing a single sentence or paragraph that help build momentum. Also sometimes I set a free writing timer. I set a timer for 10-15 minutes and write whatever comes to my mind without worrying about grammar or structure. It helps clear mental block. Another way is change in your environment, sometimes just a change in your scenery can stimulate creativity. Read more>>
