It’s important to know when to step away. Burnout and creative blocks, in my opinion, come from constantly channeling your creative inspiration. I am actually experiencing one now that’s been ongoing for a while now. The last album I wrote had a lot of songs that took a long time to write. I am a slow writer where it can take months for me to write a song I am confident with. So sometimes it can take time to start on new ideas after an album. I do not have any formula for overcoming the lag between creative surges. I tend to have a lot of titles and ideas that kind of hang around and I will delve into them if an inspiring guitar riff comes along or whatever can trigger more work on an idea. Read More>>

Creative blocks are real. Your brain is a muscle, and just like your biceps get sore, so does your mind when you’ve been pushing nonstop and the spark’s gone. That’s when I completely unplug from work and kick back with some movies. It’s fun and chill, but also a way to grab ideas from storylines and themes.
