We’re looking forward to introducing you to George Yuhasz. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning George, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My first ninety minutes of the day are spent meandering outdoors, stocking feeders with seeds, nuts, and fruits for the birds and other wildlife on the grounds and woodlands surrounding my cottage and listening to the dawn chorus of my feathered friends. Lately, a handsome male red fox has honored me with his presence. Often, he stops to gaze at me with his bright amber eyes. I gaze right back with my blues and silently express my gratitude for a wonderful piece of magic to begin my day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello everyone. My name is George Yuhasz and I am a former U.S. Government intelligence officer, special agent, and contractor. I also worked in the private sector, owning and operating a global consulting firm. I am now retired and when not spending my time enjoying the natural world around my home or through travel, I engage in creative writing. I am the author of IMAGINE THAT: THE MAGIC OF THE MYSTERIOUS LIGHTS, a children’s book, and also RIGHTEOUS ALLEGIANCE, a thriller novel, an Amazon # 1 Bestseller, and my most recently published work. Both books are multi-award-winning stories. I am currently writing a sequel to RIGHTEOUS ALLEGIANCE.
While working in the private sector, it was a privilege and a joy to coach the Allegheny College cross country team for fourteen fall seasons. It was one of the great experiences of my life.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
I grew up on a farm in Western Pennsylvania. We raised ornamental shrubbery and flowers, as well as Christmas trees and evergreens for the holiday season. My dad and I worked together until I left home to study at University in Washington, D.C. My dad taught me the value of hard physical labor and giving your best effort to any task at hand. He would not let me quit until the job was done. I think of those days with pride and am grateful I had a great mentor like him to teach me so many life lessons.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are loved and people care about you. Pay it forward.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Preserving and protecting the natural world.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, because quality of effort matters to me. Here is an example of how I feel about this. Someone once asked me what I value as a writer. A heavy question. My response was in effect the following: I believe holding myself accountable in bringing my best efforts to creating meaningful, thought provoking and entertaining stories that encourage love, kindness, friendship, hope, and reverence for our natural world.
In the final analysis, I must respect myself first before deserving any praise and/or respect from anyone else.
