Story & Lesson Highlights with Alejandro Chamorro of Washington, DC

Alejandro Chamorro shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Alejandro, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Creating content and working on film projects.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Alejandro Chamorro and I am a Sag Actor in the dmv area. My first passion growing up was Art which later developed into Graphics Arts. That led me to attend the University Of The District of Columbia in DC where I studied Graphic Communications & Design for 2 years. It wasn’t until later on I worked multiple jobs to support myself when I realized I can do whatever I wanted. I could go into any job market if I wanted to. One day working at a print company on my lunch break I felt I had to do something more. Something where I could express myself and have an impact in the world. That was always in back of my mind. Something told me to look at Craigslist. I really did not know what I was looking for. I almost went into Law Enforcement. I said maybe I should be a police officer. Then something popped up that would change my life. I saw an ad for National Geographic and they needed a Latin police Officer for a supporting role. It called me. I applied for it, sent my picture and received a callback telling me I actually look like the guy that resembles the officer in the documentary. The next day. There I was at Regan Airport playing an undercover Police Officer for National Geographic in a sting Operation. The rest is history. Since then Ive been acting and directing a few projects. I have now completed 9 short films 3 award winning for Best Short and Best Creative, Best Trailer and 3 for Best Poster Press Kit. Voices In the Vineyard being my 10th and first feature film. I am hoping to see what the future brings.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that played small shrinking myself to make situations comfortable.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. I almost gave up because of outside influence. Society has a funny way of telling you what todo or what you should do instead. They never encourage peoples dreams because of their own fears. Or they fear change and fear new.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I would say being real and genuine with people.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes. I always give it my best and I will always do because I am not operating for acceptance. I am operating by purpose through God.
