Amber, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business? 
People assume that I began making candles simply because I was bored during the pandemic. They don’t understand that I needed to make candles for my mental health.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Amber Rose Carroll and I am the founder of crafted by Carroll. I create clean, non toxic candles, wax melts, room sprays and diffusers. My candles are named for people, places and things that helped me overcome my battle with depression and anxiety. Now, I give back to organizations that provide free mental health services. I am currently using my candle workshops to provide a safe space to discuss mental health.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My grandma Bonnie and my father taught me about work. I named Grandma Bonnie’s Bliss and Dad vibes for them. They showed me that I should do everything to the best of my ability and to see every task through. I still carry those values with me today. Their dedication to detail has helped me develop into the entrepreneur I am today and I’m only getting better.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of the unknown often kept me from stepping outside of my comfort zone. There is something about not feeling like you are in control that can be crippling for humans. Although there have been many instances where I wasn’t necessarily in control, I’ve learned to depend on God and move when HE tells me to, even if I’m not sure about what lies ahead.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would tel you that faith, family and friends are most important to me.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that when I’m gone people will remember how much I loved God and loved people and how that was evident in my words and deeds. I hope they talk about how Crafted by Carroll was born out if struggle and continues to provide healing through scent and stories.
