We’re looking forward to introducing you to Annie Muniz. Check out our conversation below.
Annie, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My mornings start with a quiet cup of coffee and time in prayer and devotion. This is a sacred space for me to reflect, give thanks, and align my heart before the day begins. After that, I ease into the workday by checking emails, reviewing content, and organizing anything that needs my attention for the events ahead. It’s a balance of spiritual grounding and purposeful preparation.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Annie Muniz, the owner and lead designer of Modern Chic & Unique Events—a faith-based wedding and event design company rooted in storytelling, intention, and elegance. With over 28 years of experience, I’ve had the honor of turning my passion into a purpose: creating one-of-a-kind celebrations that reflect the heart and vision of every client.
Our brand stands out because we don’t just plan events—we design experiences filled with beauty, meaning, and unforgettable moments. From whimsical florals to custom event installations, everything we do is built with love, prayer, and creative excellence. My husband Joe and I work side-by-side: I bring the vision, and he builds it with his hands. It’s a labor of love that we’re proud to share with others.
What makes our journey special is that it’s never been just about the flowers or the decor—it’s about using our God-given gifts to serve others with intention. Right now, I’m also working on a book that shares my personal journey in this industry, the highs, the heartbreaks, and the healing. I believe every season has purpose, and I hope to inspire others to keep building, dreaming, and trusting God’s timing.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
The person who taught me the most about work was my mother. She had a strong work ethic, but more than that, she worked with grace, faith, and resilience. She taught me that no job was too small, that excellence mattered, and that when you do things with love—it shows in everything you touch.
But I also have to say that experience has been one of my greatest teachers. Building a business, facing setbacks, and continuing to grow through every season has taught me discipline, creativity, and trust in God’s plan. I’ve learned that hard work opens doors, but faith and integrity keep them open.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be this:
“You are stronger than you know, and everything you’re going through is preparing you for something beautiful.”
I’d remind her not to rush the process, to trust God’s timing, and to keep creating—even when it feels unseen. The seeds you’re planting now will one day bloom into something far greater than you can imagine. Keep going, keep believing, and never forget—you were created with purpose.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that what really matters to me is faith, family, and purpose. They know I lead with my heart in everything I do—whether it’s designing an event, mentoring someone, or simply showing up for the people I love. They’d probably say I care deeply about creating beauty, but more importantly, creating meaning.
I believe in being present, in listening, and in making people feel seen and celebrated. I think they’d also say I’m passionate, loyal, and that I don’t just dream big—I work hard to make those dreams a reality.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think my customers would miss the heart behind every detail. They’d miss the way I truly listen to their vision and bring it to life with care, creativity, and intention. It’s not just about florals or décor—it’s about how I make people feel: seen, celebrated, and at peace knowing they’re in good hands.
They’d miss the personal touches, the prayers whispered over every bouquet, and the joy I carry into every event. I treat every celebration as if it were my own, and I think that kind of passion and purpose is what they’d remember—and miss—the most.
