Story & Lesson Highlights with Ashley Schroepfer

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ashley Schroepfer. Check out our conversation below.

Ashley, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve been spending lots of time outside this summer, going for walks, doing yoga in the park, or jogging.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Ah yes, my brand. This question is getting harder to answer as time goes on.
The artist brand associated with my name has evolved from paintings, home decor, and prints at pop up markets, and has become mainly stickers, with occasional side projects tossed in. For the most part, I’ve put a pin in it while I work on other things.
Last year, I designed and created a mini runway collection for Texas Fashion Week. I created a brand, ALSA, and attended the event in San Antonio to showcase the looks. I intend to launch the website, making select designs available for limited release. The launch date has been pushed back due to logistical hurdles, but ideally in the next few years ALSA will have a full launch.
My current project this summer has been to re-explore creative writing. I’ve always wanted to write a book, and this year several solid ideas have come into my mind. My first book, titled “bittersweet” will be released later this year and is a collection of poems and reflections on the main themes I have encountered in the past few years. Still being workshopped is a novel, a cookbook, and a second collection of poems.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I dreamer, I suppose. I realized I kind of lost that for a little while, so I’ve been spending the last year finding my way back to who I was before the world asked me to be “realistic.”

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Every day. It takes an insane amount of energy and effort to stay the course.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. I never want my presence on social media or elsewhere to be artificial. I may not share every detail of my life, but I do not share false narratives.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
When I am outside!
