We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ashley Tolliver. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Ashley, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day consist of drinking water, praying and reading.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Ashley Tolliver and I am a motivation speaker, I share my 13 and pregnant story to transform the lives of other girls/women who are struggling with loneliness. My business is called Rebuilding Greatness LLC.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grandmother always spoke life into me, she would say, “all I had to do was ask God for whatever I desired”. She saw what I didn’t see in myself when I was younger and couldn’t wait to tell everyone about all of my accomplishments. To be honest, she knew what some of my family members said behind closed doors about me. My grandmother made it clear that all things are possible with God and that if I trusted him, there was nothing I couldn’t do.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Struggling taught me the art of patience and having a heart full of gratitude throughout everything.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
God’s ideas. His will and not my own. I never would have imagined myself being a public speaker based on my past. I was born non-verbal, I didn’t start speaking to other people until the age of 6. The amount of anxiety I had as a young girl/woman was unbelievable. I would always tense up and start sweating everywhere anytime I had to give speeches in school. My pain turned into purpose.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
They will miss my upbeat and outgoing, positive personality along with my unique storytelling abilities.
