Story & Lesson Highlights with Bethany Shipley

Bethany Shipley shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Bethany, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think the biggest misunderstanding is that with a name like Your Magic, people assume it’s surface-level, whimsical, or even a little “woo woo.” The truth is, there really isn’t a word that fully captures what this program is. While the word “magic” can sound almost childish, the work we do inside is the opposite—it’s deeply grounded, highly impactful, and life-shifting.

This isn’t about tricks or feel-good fluff. It’s about uncovering the most authentic parts of yourself and having the courage to live from that place. The conversations are raw. The insights are practical. And the changes ripple into every area of your life—work, relationships, creativity, and beyond.

So if anything, the name Your Magic is a doorway. It draws you in, but what you’ll actually experience is depth, clarity, and the kind of transformation that lasts.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Bethany Shipley, and I help people reconnect with what I call their magic, the spark that makes life feel vibrant, purposeful, and true.

Many people find themselves moving through life on autopilot. The days feel dull, routines become monotonous, and even though they’re busy, there’s a lingering sense of emptiness. Often, the hardest part is realizing they’ve lost clarity about what they actually want.

My work is unique because it isn’t about giving people another checklist or pushing them to do more. Instead, it’s about creating space to peel away what doesn’t belong so they can finally hear themselves again. When people reconnect with their magic, everything shifts. Energy returns, clarity rises to the surface, and life begins to feel exciting and aligned.

Right now, I’m pouring my heart into Your Magic, a program that helps people experience that shift. It is deeply meaningful work that touches every part of life—work, relationships, creativity, and the simple joy of being alive.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I’ve been fortunate to have a coach who has walked alongside me since I was a teenager. He consistently saw potential in me long before I could see it myself, and he never stopped reflecting it back to me. His steady belief and tireless support have been a huge part of helping me grow into who I am today.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I once thought the solution to failure was to hustle harder. If something didn’t work, I’d double down, push more, and try to outwork the problem. Eventually, I hit walls I couldn’t push through, no matter how hard I tried. That failure taught me that alignment matters more than effort. When I’m connected to my magic, the right actions flow and results follow naturally.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would say yes, the public version of me is the real me—but it’s not the whole me. What I share publicly is authentic, but it’s curated through the lens of what I feel is most useful, inspiring, or aligned to put into the world.

I don’t believe in having a “persona” that’s separate from who I really am. My work is all about living your personal brand, not building a mask. That means when you meet me on stage, on social media, or in my programs, you’re getting the same Bethany my family and friends know. At the same time, I’m human. I have private moments, struggles, and edges that I hold sacred.

So yes, the public me is real. It’s just the version of me that’s chosen for service—the part of me that’s here to shine a light for others.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I only had 10 years left, I would stop treating my work as something temporary and start building Your Magic to be fully evergreen. I’d focus on creating it in a way that could live on seamlessly even after I’m gone—so the conversations, tools, and transformations it offers would still reach people long into the future.

That, to me, feels like the best use of my time: pouring into something that continues to breathe life and clarity into others, even when I’m no longer here to deliver it myself.
