We recently had the chance to connect with Dante Chak and have shared our conversation below.
Dante, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
My earliest and warmest memories in my life are standing in my lola’s (grandmother) kitchen and watching her cutting mangoes to feed me. It’s just a fruit, but it was her way of saying she loved me unconditionally and I’ve never felt more taken care of.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My company, Inertia Enterprises LLC based in Hawai’i is an action packed business delivering adrenaline right to your door. I aim to inspire others to seek the most out of life by pushing limits through extreme and action sports. Covering a wide range of activities including but not limited to skydiving, skateboarding, combat sports, and various other sports/events.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I have younger twin brothers Zack and Aidan. I wasn’t the nicest to them growing up, but I was especially harder on Aidan. I took a lot of rage and frustration out on him because I didn’t learn how to deal with my emotions in a healthy way. Through sports like kickboxing, tumble and cheer, I learned to manage my emotions in a healthy way and realized the way I treated Aidan was how I actually felt about myself.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
My time in the Marine Corps taught me that LESS IS MORE! Luxurious silk sheets and not having to struggle for your next meal is a sure fire way to complacency. Smooth seas don’t make skilled sailors. Hardship is necessary and suffering, truly suffering with less, allows you to better cherish the times when you have more.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
John Chea 100% a lifelong friend of mine whose advice I always take to heart. We’ve dubbed him my “manager” and he even has a Dundie award that says “Best Manager” so it must be true. There’s not many big decisions or events in my life that happens without his knowing or his influence and/or opinion. He and I are truly a duo that only wants to see each other succeed in any area of life and has each others best interests. For over 11 years now, since I was 14.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Above all else— I would hope people say that I was someone who never held himself back in life. Always went after everything I wanted at full speed. I’ve always been someone who wears his heart on his sleeve and tries to deliver a sense of warmth. My mission statement anywhere I go is simply to make smiles.
