Deanna Radulescu shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Deanna, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A typical day for me right now starts with responding to emails for my podcast and connecting with potential partners for my new magazine launching in Chicago’s Gold Coast. I check in with my assistant each morning to review questions and upcoming meetings, then take care of my pets—two dogs and two macaws. After getting ready, I head out to meetings, try to fit in a gym session during the day, and later return home to focus on social media content, admin tasks, and preparing for upcoming Label Free podcast recordings.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Deanna Radulescu, the founder of Label Free Media, LLC, which is home to my award-winning podcast, Label Free, and my newest venture, Gold Coast City Lifestyle Magazine. My mission is to inspire people to live authentically and celebrate life beyond labels.
The podcast has allowed me to reach a global audience, sharing stories of resilience, entrepreneurship, and personal transformation. What makes it unique is its authenticity—I dive into real conversations that challenge norms and empower listeners to embrace who they are.
Building on that, I’m now launching Gold Coast City Lifestyle, a luxury lifestyle magazine dedicated to highlighting the very best of Chicago’s most vibrant neighborhoods. With curated editorial content, exclusive features, and a focus on community, the magazine is designed to connect readers with inspiring people, businesses, and experiences.
Together, these platforms create a dynamic brand that amplifies voices, fosters connection, and shines a spotlight on authenticity, success, and living life to the fullest.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child growing up in an abusive home, I believed I was unworthy, unloved, and insignificant. Through years of healing and self-discovery, I’ve shed those false beliefs. Today, I know I am smart, beautiful, and deeply worthy—not only of love and happiness, but also of success.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
My late husband always said, “Nothing good comes easy,” and those words have guided me countless times over the past 10 years. I’m not afraid to start something new, but I do experience fear along the journey—fear of success, exhaustion when things get hard, and moments of doubt.
Yet, discipline is like a muscle; it only grows stronger when challenged. My years of competing in bodybuilding taught me that giving up is never the answer. In fact, I’ve learned that when you’re closest to giving up, you’re often right on the brink of a breakthrough.
Yes, there have been moments when I’ve felt like giving up—on my podcast, on myself, even on launching this magazine. But I never do. Feelings are not facts. It’s okay to feel fear or frustration, but what matters is refusing to act on them. That mindset has become the foundation of my resilience and success.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I practice what I preach—living a life as authentic and label-free as possible. I don’t know any other way but to be myself. Maybe I’m too real at times, but what you see is truly what you get. I do make an effort to be a bit more polished in public, but if you catch me in workout clothes with my hair up, I’m perfectly fine with that too.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who lived unapologetically true to herself—someone who inspired others to break free from labels and embrace their own authenticity. I want them to say I brought honesty, courage, and compassion into every room I entered, and that I encouraged others to pursue their passions, speak their truth, and never settle for anything less than living fully. Most of all, I hope they remember me as genuine—what you saw was exactly who I was, and that my presence made people feel seen and valued.
