Story & Lesson Highlights with Diana Narvaez Salazar of Southeast

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Diana Narvaez Salazar. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Diana, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Many don’t realize it’s also about community, personal growth, and confidence-building. The business opportunity is optional—plenty of people join simply for discounts or to enjoy the products.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Diana Salazar. I’ve been in the beauty industry for seven years as a Younique Brand Ambassador, and what drew me in wasn’t just the amazing skincare and cosmetics—it was the mission behind the brand. Younique partners with the Saprea Foundation, which helps survivors of childhood sexual abuse begin their healing journey. As a survivor myself, this mission is deeply personal and the biggest reason I’m proud to represent this company.

What makes Younique unique is that it’s more than makeup—it’s about empowerment, confidence, and community. I love helping women feel beautiful in their own skin, whether it’s through sharing simple beauty tips, connecting them with products that make them feel confident, or just encouraging them to take a little time for themselves.

Right now, I’m focused on continuing to grow in this space, reaching more women, and showing that beauty can be both fun and meaningful.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My family. They’ve always told me I was a go-getter, even before I truly recognized it in myself. No matter the season of my life—whether I needed a side hustle or not—I always found a way to keep moving and keep hustling. I’ve just never been the type to sit back and ask for help; my pride and determination push me to figure things out and make it happen.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. I felt like giving up when I lost my parents. They were called away because their time here was done, but for me, it felt like my world stopped. When I lost my father, I lost the only man I could trust for years. He was a jokester but also my protector — I was truly a daddy’s girl. Losing my mother devastated me even more. She was my best friend, and suddenly, I had no mother or father.

For a moment, I didn’t think I’d be able to move on. But my children reminded me — even at their young age — “This isn’t what your mother would have wanted for you.” Those words became my lifeline.

Losing my parents changed my entire world, but it also made me stronger. It taught me that even in the hardest seasons, I could still stand on my own two feet and keep going.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
My oldest brother. Growing up, I used to wonder why he didn’t want me tagging along or why he seemed distant — I even questioned if he loved me. But as I got older, I started to see the bigger picture. My brother has always been there for me through some of the toughest times in my life. He never demanded anything from me, but instead guided me with advice and encouragement.

He has always wanted the best for me, and now, looking at the man he is today — as a brother, a husband, and a father — I couldn’t be prouder. I admire him deeply, not because of any power he holds, but because of the strength of his character and the love he’s shown in his own quiet way.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people tell the truth about me. I know I’m not perfect, but I do know that I have a big heart and a genuine desire to help others. I’ve always felt that God put me on this earth to be a helper, and I try to live up to that calling every day. I want to be remembered as someone who treated people equally, with kindness and respect, and who always did her best to make a difference in the lives around her.
