Story & Lesson Highlights with Dr. Natasha Ramsey of Dacula, Ga

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dr. Natasha Ramsey. Check out our conversation below.

Dr. Natasha, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are sacred. I usually begin with quiet prayer and reflection, grounding myself in gratitude before the demands of the day begin. I believe how you start your morning sets the tone for everything that follows, so I carve out that time to align my mind and spirit with my calling. After that, I spend time journaling or reviewing one of the devotionals I’m currently reading, it keeps me both creative and connected to my larger mission of creating brave spaces for healing.

Once I’ve centered myself, I shift into movement—sometimes a walk, sometimes stretching, sometimes just breathing exercises. It reminds me that my body, like my clients’ bodies, holds stories that deserve care and attention. By the time those first 90 minutes are over, I feel ready to step into the roles I carry; therapist, professor, leader, and creator—with intentionality and purpose.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dr. Natasha Ramsey, and at my core, I’m a healer and a creator of brave spaces. I’m a neuropsychotherapist and traumatologist, and I founded Brave Spaces Counseling as a virtual practice that helps individuals navigate some of life’s most painful and transformative seasons. What makes my work unique is that it’s not just about treatment—it’s about creating environments where people feel safe enough to be vulnerable, resilient enough to heal, and empowered enough to thrive.

Out of that vision, I’ve launched new projects that reflect both my professional expertise and my personal journey. Mind & Body Unwired is my newest brand, dedicated to supporting people living with Functional Neurological Disorder and trauma through books, workbooks, a digital magazine, and even an upcoming app. My story is one of overcoming adversity, so every resource I create is designed to remind others that healing is possible, faith is powerful, and no one is broken beyond repair.

Right now, I’m working on expanding these projects so that more people—whether they’re clients, clinicians, or everyday readers—have access to evidence-based tools wrapped in compassion and faith. What excites me most is watching people discover that even in their most difficult chapters, they can find strength, courage, and wholeness.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I don’t carry a lot of early memories because I experienced abuse as a child, and for a long time that silence in my story felt like a void. But what I’ve learned is that even in the absence of those memories, God was planting resilience in me. One defining moment that shaped how I see the world came later, when I realized I had a choice—I could let my pain define me, or I could use it to fuel my purpose.

That realization changed everything. It taught me that trauma doesn’t get the final say. It also gave me the passion to create Brave Spaces, because I know firsthand how life-changing it is to have a place where your voice, your body, and your story are honored. My early experiences could have left me silent, but instead they gave me the conviction to help others find their voice and their healing.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
For a long time, I carried my pain in silence. On the outside, I was achieving, working, and showing up for everyone else, but inside, I was weighed down by trauma I hadn’t given myself permission to speak. The turning point came when I realized that silence was not protecting me; it was suffocating me.

I stopped hiding when I understood that my story wasn’t just about what happened to me, but about what God could do through me. That shift turned my pain into purpose. It gave birth to my memoir, “Brave Spaces, How I overcame what could have destroyed me”, and to the work I now do every day—helping others reclaim their voice and see that healing is possible. My wounds became my wisdom, and that transformation has been the greatest source of strength in my life.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to building spaces where people can heal from trauma, no matter how long it takes. For me, this isn’t a project with an end date—it’s a lifelong calling. Whether it’s through my counseling practice, my books, my teaching, or the Mind & Body Unwired brand, I will keep creating resources that remind people they are not broken, they are not alone, and that their healing is worth the fight.

It doesn’t matter if it takes years for the movement to grow the way I envision. I know what it’s like to feel unseen, unheard, and overwhelmed by pain, and I also know the freedom of walking into wholeness. That belief—that healing is always possible and worth pursuing—is something I will never stop standing on. Every project I take on is built from that foundation, and I see it as the legacy I want to leave.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I hope the story people tell about me is that I created spaces where others felt seen, safe, and brave enough to heal. I want them to say I lived out my faith in a way that made room for people to lay down their pain and pick up hope. That I didn’t just talk about resilience, but that I embodied it—turning wounds into wisdom and using my life to remind others that God can redeem even the hardest stories.

I hope they remember me not only for what I built—Brave Spaces Counseling, Mind & Body Unwired, and the books and resources that will outlive me—but for the way I made them feel: valued, understood, and capable of becoming whole. If the story of my life inspires even one person to choose healing over despair, then my legacy will have been worth it.
