Dwight Thomas shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Dwight, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
People are secretly struggling with their identity. We live in a trend driven society. Style, Culture, Beliefs and even what we think as individuals are being shaped by the ideas of what we think we should believe. The one thing God has given us is our individual differences that separates us, but instead we would rather be like someone else. To admire, to be motivated, to strive for better due to someone’s else greatest is one thing but to want to be like someone else is another.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dwight Thomas I am the creator and founder of the clothing brand “Intelligently Chilled”. I do many things but I am a fashionista and intellectual. Intelligently Chilled tells a unique story about the type of person you’re. Today I am introducing another brand by the name, “Resonate. It’s not just another persona brand but I love this brand because it’s literally for everyone and it’s intelligent , urban, unique, fun and something you can play with.
Allow me to explain: When you purchase medication it usually explains side effects. “Resonate” is just that. What is the side effects of dealing with or knowing “YOU”. Are you that Toxic person, Loving, Freaky, Fun person. Make it about you. This is your chance. Let the world know what they’re getting themselves into and let that RESONATE!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I would have to say my early 30’s. Once I understood that no one but me have complete control of my life. Whatever I do rather good or bad, it’s up to me to build on that or allow it to break me. I’ve had a situation in my life that had my back against the wall. The first thing that came to mind was what would others would think, will I still get hired, how would this affect me. Once i understood that I could create my own lane, and not having to settle for what the world had for me, I became better.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
“Give yourself grace kid”. The suffering, the “not knowing”, the misguidance you’re enduring now is only building your character. Just get therapy as soon as you can afford it lol and live your life.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
My nonprofit “Thomas For Them Inc focuses on youth and child safety. I want to help stop or slow down Human Trafficking by making kids and young adults aware of what to look for. Also making sure every parent has their child fingerprints accessible.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I tried. I did my best with the cards that I was dealt. I was environmental about my stance in the community and the changes I want to see for the next generation. I was myself from the beginning until the end. What I was so afraid of regarding being serious, passionate, emotional or even angry. They could turn out to become positive actions with the right amount of maturity and intent.
