We recently had the chance to connect with Elizabeth Gerald and have shared our conversation below.
Elizabeth, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My day starts with prayers, meditation, affirmation, i shower, get dressed, drink tea/or a bottle of water. Then I exercise.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Im Elizabeth Gerald, the founder of MJGMOVEMENT. We are a 5013c organization, I started mjgmovement, in honor of my daughter marcie Gerald. Marcie died by suicide as a result of a sexual assault. So o turned my pain into my power, loosing a child is one of the hardest things a parent can go through, there is no pain, deeper then that. So rather than, sit and, grieve myself together death, I decided to, help others, and SAVE [ SUPPORT ASSIST VINDICATE EDUCATE] as many people as I can. I work with families, who have lost children, we have paid for funerals, headstones, we have doctors we can refer people to for counseling, we feed homeless people, we give out, food boxes, dishes, feminine products, coats, hats, gloves, ect. For Christmas of 2024, we gave out toys, coats, hats, gloves, food, ect to over 7000 families, I just want to, be able to be a blessing to others.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a mom, aunt, sister, friend. And I’m still all of those things, I just have a platform, and can help people, at a higher reach.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, we have to, know when you gotta, take a self care break. And just take time out, for self, there’s nothing like peace. So whenever I feel, overwhelmed, u step back, and take some me time, there’s nothing wrong, with, when your body tells you, to relax, that’s what you gotta do.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes it is,what you see,is what you get,if I can help a person I will, rather it’s, at one of my events or in private.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I don’t think there’s, anything I would stop doing, life is short already, so I am living my best life.
