Story & Lesson Highlights with Eric Grant of Northeast

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Eric Grant. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Eric , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m chasing art! Getting better at it, forming my own opinions about it and creating it with no regrets. I’m literally in a space of making mistakes and I love it. I have an accounting degree. Accounting at a firm didn’t work out. Literally starting getting headaches during work, when I was sleep, when I woke up, so I left. I got the opportunity to chase passion and get a degree in graphic design at the school I always wanted to graduate from and I’m exactly where I want to be. I got the opportunity to quit my job and just focus on being a student and I realize these type of opportunities don’t just happen for everyone so I have been working my tail off. If I stop, then I’m giving up and I’m not showing my kids how to go after what they believe and that isn’t an option.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Eric and on the internet I go by RevampedGlint, Glint, Glintavius, Glintamus and many, many more. I create content on all social media platforms such as Youtube, Twitch, Tiktok. My content consists of Gym workouts, art, and video games. I am currently entering in my senior year of college getting my undergrad degree in graphic design. I’m also half way done my MBA. At this point in life, I am a professional student. I’m a father, brother, cousin and a student of life. I live learning and I love sharing what I learn with the people I care about. I also don’t like living in a world of not knowing so if I think it will benefit me and the people that depend on me, I’m going to give it a try as long as it’s ethical, moral and legal. Lately, I have been on my quest to learn more about God and get closer to him. Without him, I am nothing.

I’ve been working on being a better traditional artist, as well as digital artist. Professionally, I would love to work in the cartoon industry doing character design and animation. We are just getting started.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was the ultimate pleaser of people. The day you say no, is the day people feel like you never said yes. I decided to invest in myself, which ultimately invests in everyone else. If I am better me for the people that depend on me, then they will be better as well. The only problem is if you want better for others that don’t want better for themselves.

I will still give you the shirt off my back for sure, but there is a degree of “locked in” I want to live in so I can continue accomplishing every goal I set for myself.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
For me, suffering teaches you that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. If you have nothing but success and don’t know what suffering or failure is, you don’t know how to deal with it. When you have dealt with defeat, a loss, suffering, failure, you understand that “This Too Shall Pass” It’s not the end. If God grants you the next day, you have another day to try again.

I also try to remember that my worst day is someone’s best day. I am fortunate and grateful for the life I have. Someone would love to be in my position. That doesn’t invalidate when I am stressed or going through it, but it helps me think in a different perspective that I am truly blessed.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say my kids are the most important thing in my life. They are my reason for being. I would want them to know how much I love and appreciate them. I would want them to know, they have taught me just as much as I try to teach them. I am so proud of them for giving life a try everyday. The world I lived in as a kid is so much different that the world they are trying to navigate. I love them with every fiber of my body and I am here for them forever. Thank you for making me a father and thank you for making my life mean more than I ever thought it would.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace in the gym. The gym is my fortress of solitude. It used to be the basketball court but an Army injury has side lined me but I still love the game. When I get to start my day with a good workout, it’s the initial successful thing I do. It sets the tone for the rest of the day. My stress decreases in the gym as well as whatever fat I am carrying around. When I get to start my day in the gym, I think more clearer and I prioritize and manage my thoughts better than I can when I don’t go to the gym.
