Story & Lesson Highlights with Evelyn Odreman of Liberty Hill, Texas

We recently had the chance to connect with Evelyn Odreman and have shared our conversation below.

Evelyn, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I used to think the main focus when building something successful was all about the money. But Odremans Dobermans taught me it’s really about connection. The magic happens where a love for dogs meets the joy of changing people’s lives. Every match we make isn’t just a transaction — it’s a bond, and that’s what truly drives everything we do.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Evelyn Odreman, the heart behind Odremans Dobermans. What began as a simple love for these incredible dogs has grown into something much bigger — a way to bring joy and connection to families. At Odremans Dobermans, we focus on raising healthy, well-mannered Dobermans and making sure every match feels like it was meant to be.

What makes us special isn’t just the dogs — it’s the stories we get to be part of. Seeing a shy child light up with their new best friend or a family gain a loyal protector reminds me of why I started this in the first place. Currently, we’re working on additional ways to support owners with training and resources, ensuring the bond only grows stronger.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about dogs — it’s about love, trust, and building connections that last a lifetime.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Honestly, the greatest lessons about work didn’t come from a person — they came from my dogs. Without ever saying a word, they taught me patience, consistency, and the value of trust. Raising and training Dobermans showed me that real progress takes time, that showing up every day matters, and that connection will always outlast pressure. Those lessons shape how I lead my business and my life.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there was a moment when everything felt like it was falling apart — finances were tight, the help I had didn’t last, and I honestly wondered if I could keep going. But I couldn’t give up, not with Whiskey, my dog, by my side. She stayed with me through every late night and every setback, reminding me what this all meant. She changed my life, and I realized that for as long as I have what I have — my dogs, my passion, and the families we touch — I needed to keep going. I know anyone trying to start something new can relate to that feeling of being pushed back, but it’s those moments that test your heart and show you why it’s worth fighting for.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that what matters most to me is doing things the right way. Whether it’s raising my dogs, running my business, or just showing up for the people I care about, I’ve always believed that integrity and care can’t be compromised. Getting it right may take more time and effort, but that’s what makes it meaningful — and that’s what I value above all else.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand deeply, in a way most people might not, is that even though what I do isn’t ‘easy money,’ the hard work and care I pour into my dogs — the art of raising them right — has taught me so much about others who work tirelessly for the dollar. It’s given me a real appreciation for dedication, persistence, and the pride that comes from doing something well, even when it’s challenging.
