Story & Lesson Highlights with Felicia Adderley

Felicia Adderley shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Felicia , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Adult coloring! I tried a few of my old hobbies out again, like Lego kits and embroidery, but the coloring stuck! I went down an adult coloring rabbit hole on YouTube and I have yet to climb out!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Felicia Adderley, Creative Director of Posh Parties. Posh Parties is an event design and rental company, specializing in balloon decor. We bring our client’s dreamworld to life for them and their guests to enjoy in the here and now. Our intention is to exceed the client’s imagined expectations for their special life events and make them truly unforgettable. We continue to expand and innovate so that our company remains unique and becomes established as an industry leader in The Bahamas.

In that same vein, we are starting 2 new sections of the business. Laser engraved products and LED marquee rentals!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Something that breaks bonds between people is a lack of appreciation for an individual and what they bring to your life. This can stem from familiarity with a person, and just assuming that they will always be there, no matter if you mistreat them or neglect your relationship with them. Acknowledging where you went wrong, sincerely apologizing and then showing a willingness to make the effort towards change can restore bonds.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that even if you are a good person that bad things can happen to you. Money doesn’t solve everything and not everything can be fixed. Even if you are on top today, life can knock you down and you can feel like you are back to “square one”. Many will observe your suffering and do nothing to alleviate it. Some people will actually enjoy your suffering. Times of suffering show you who the people around you REALLY are.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to the belief that you can start late or start over, but still have a good life. One that you really love and that fits you and not the ideal that everyone THINKS you should want.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
When it’s quiet and I get to make the choice to either fill or feel the silence. If I choose to fill it, it’s with something that I really enjoy, like watching cartoons from the 80’s in bed and eating ice cream.
