We’re looking forward to introducing you to George Schmid. Check out our conversation below.
George, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity, always!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We own an International financial services company “The Schmid Group, LLC.” and specialize in complex insurance programs. I have personally designed programs from scratch including McDonalds, Applebee’s, National Moving and Storage, America Psychologists Association, American Psychiatric Association and the big one (# two program in the world), Ford Motor Credit in all of Mexico and Chile. I have managed over 225 programs over the years.
We also own Progressive Artist Management and work with many musical artists, models, actors, and novelty acts worldwide. Are brand is unique because we don’t charge the artist anything unless they make over $2,000 on any given revenue opportunity.
Also are on the board of directors and investors for Sidewalks Entertainment, “www.sidewalkstv.com” and feature the best in celebrity interviews, with over 150 television stations in North America and the Caribbean and streaming on Roku, Apple tv, Fire tv and other platforms.
Investors in Matt Paxton’s, new company “Clutter Cleaners”. Matt made the hit tv shows, “Hoarders and Filthy Fortunes” famous.
On the board for the media management company in Sydney Australia, ” Yolo Entertainment”.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I could do anything myself in this world, when in fact you need others help. Lots of it.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. After I invented the hit sport tube “Tube-N- IT” at 25 years old, (commercial tube with handles, a built-in slope to hydroplane better, recessed valve and tow strap), to by pulled behind speed boats, (could also do river and snow tubing), my own brother-in-law at the time, stold everything.
I was devastated as it was a worldwide hit and I was living off of credit cards.
My Mom and I took him to court which lasted 7 years, my sister divorced him, and I almost gave up many times.
To get back on my feet, I excelled in the corporate world, got behind amazing musical acts and invented “The Card Tree”, which was made out of cardboard in the image of a Christmas tree to hold up to 72 greeting cards. That was a hit through American Greeting Company.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Always tell the truth, no matter how good or how bad.
Everyone needs to know the truth about things.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: How do you know when you’re out of your depth?
When I cannot anticipate the future. And it happens, so I tap into others that are better suited and ask them to join our team.
