Ghazi Farrad shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Ghazi, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me for the last four months have been getting up at 5:00 AM, working on learning cybersecurity until I have to leave for work at 7AM. Going to work, listening to my school work and then once I get off work I pick up my kids. After I pick you up my kids from daycare usually we do something or at least go somewhere. Usually at night if I get time I will work on my side hustles as far as seeing ways I can market my music and searching for talent to narrate my audiobooks.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello
My name is Ghazi Farrad. Formerly known as FSG Rell. I was an artist for most of my life. I’ve had a meeting with Atlantic records, had viral songs, got co-signed by major music industry artists/DJ’s and made some awesome music, Up until 3 years ago I stopped making music and started to transition to becoming an author. Now I’m an author and I love the new era I’m in. I’m not perfect but I’m learning how to navigate the space. The best thing about my books are that they are very easy to follow, I have a new style of writing and I look to better the world but more importantly the culture with thinking. I published 25 books and in the future I will release another 25. Right now I’m focusing on trying to manage my side hustles, being in school while giving my family enough time as well.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I believed the world was fair and that as long as you worked hard that you would succeed. I was wrong. Through life I learned that life isn’t always fair.. I learned that the fair thing that should happen, doesn’t always happen. With accepting that, I learned to never count on someone doing the right thing and to always look at whatever I did to enable a situation to where I’m counting on another to do the right things. Through music I learned the hard way that just working hard doesn’t guarantee you success, I worked hard every day, trying to be creative and doing what I know best which wasn’t enough for me to become an A-lister.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me something success never could. Suffering taught me that it rarely matters what happened to you, whats most important is how long you cry about what happened and then how you handle it is what’s most important. Once I learned that, I became better in everything I did.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
An important truth that very few people agree with me on is that we need to hold ourselves accountable. A lot of people say they agree, however, to truly agree you have to live by it. Not many live by it, I can talk to someone and reveal something they did wrong in a situation that made a bad situation worse and they will be in denial. Holding ourselves accountable is an important truth that changes lives for the better.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think people will most misunderstand my transition of my legacy. The why of it all. Some people see it as me giving up on something. Others see it as me trying to catch a trend. The truth is, sometimes you have to pivot. It’s almost as if people know you do music automatically assume you don’t have a life besides that. Life outside of my music influenced me greatly. The development of my brain put my mental space to a point to where I didn’t want to do music anymore. Not because I don’t love making music, not because I don’t love the process but because I needed to start a new phase in my life.
