We recently had the chance to connect with Haiden Stipp and have shared our conversation below.
Haiden, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
What makes me lose track of time and find myself is painting. At my core, I’m just a gal that loves to create with color. When I take the time to paint, I wonder why I don’t paint as much as I breathe. My paintings are heavily influenced by florals. Often, I’ll be working with flowers that are so good they need to be documented in paint.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Haiden and I own Good Ground Floral with my husband Josh. We are rooted in Missouri and our focus is on wild at heart couples who are looking for bold and colorful weddings. We love the “wildflower” look while also using luxurious blooms to create bright and textural designs.
Currently, I am working to grow some of our own flowers that get put in deliveries. I am so excited because this year, we’ve been able to create designs with 100% Good Ground Floral blooms. That’s so special to us to see an arrangement from seed to vase. The plan is to continually expand this from year to year.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a little gal, I thought an artist was defined by success and fame. So I was not able to claim myself as an artist. But now I confidently and primarily see my work as an artist. Because we have a good God that is a Creator, us as image bearers are also creators and artists.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
A defining wound is the loss of a loved one too soon. I have lost several family members but losing one that felt like there was so much life left was and still is a real wrestling. It changed my perspective in a way that gave me more compassion for others and lifted my gaze more Heavenward. It felt like there were more chances worth taking because our days are not promised and I launched Good Ground Floral the same month we lost my uncle.
I have healed simply by time and the love of the Lord. Grief takes on new forms but it doesn’t leave us.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire children for their character, not their power. I love how children answer questions. Before fear of what others think enters, they don’t sit and stew on if it’s right or how it will come out. They just answer what their inner most being believes. I love that! I think even some of the simplest questions are difficult for adults to answer and children just speak from their gut.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
I won’t regret taking the leap of faith to pursue flowers full time. It is such a gift and luxury to have a passion that you don’t grow tired of. From the moment I arranged my first bouquet, my heart was set on flowers and there was no turning back. I am so thankful to have the space to move forward with flowers and have time to work on its growth with not many other distractions.
