We recently had the chance to connect with Holly Jackson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Holly, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I truly believe that integrity is more important than anything. It needs to be the core of what it is that you do. You can do a lot of great things but if you got to that point by doing it incorrectly or without integrity, it means nothing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Holly Jackson. I am a domestic violence and a sexual assault survivor. I am also a cancer survivor. Walls of Love is my passion and my baby and I am so honored to be able to provide communities with essential items and no judgments through the work of myself and my hardworking volunteers and supporters. We encourage people to follow our socials on FB/IG/X/Tiktok or get involved with volunteering or following our journey at www.wallsoflove.com.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I would have to say being able to see someone at their lowest point and realizing just how amazing something as simple as essential items being given to somebody in need can change their demeanor and their day. I have also had the opportunity to see that the people who need items or money the most are the kindest and sweetest people on the planet. They give the most and with the best intentions.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I think I started realizing that there were other people who were in the same type of situation that I was in and they felt lost and hopeless. When we shared stories and small little wins, I started to see a glimmer of hope in people. I realized that some of the things that I had conquered gave them inspiration and made them feel like they had power.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
This is actually a subject. We talk about a lot. I’m a big proponent of loving on people while they’re here or giving them their flowers while they’re here and in the moment that they deserve them and can appreciate them. One of the things that I am adamant about is loving people out loud. I often ask people if I left this world tomorrow, would you know that I genuinely loved you. Every single one of them says yes. To me, that means i’m doing something right.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that people will say that I always advocated for the underdog. I also hope that they will say that my passion and my dedication to those in need inspire people to make changes in their community and give back.
