We recently had the chance to connect with J. Jenkins and have shared our conversation below.
J. , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
What I’m being called to do now, that I may have been afraid of before, is to walk boldly in my calling of faith in Christ as a whistleblower for the kingdom of darkness. For a long time, I wrestled with fear — fear of judgment, rejection, and the weight of spiritual warfare that comes with exposing truth. But God has been strengthening me with courage and clarity. I’ve realized that my voice isn’t just mine; it’s a weapon of light. I’m called to speak boldly about the things many shy away from — to uncover deception, reveal truth, and guide others back to God’s presence. Now, I walk in that authority with faith and conviction, knowing that every time I speak truth, someone else finds freedom.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m J. Jenkins — an author, emerging faith-based content creator, and founder of The Victory Code, as well as Jaia Locs, my natural hair care and loc services business founded in Atlanta. I help women heal spiritually, emotionally, and physically, blending ministry and personal empowerment. My work stands out because it’s rooted in authenticity and transformation and I aspire to guide others through spiritual battles while also helping them feel confident and radiant in their natural beauty. I recently released my debut book, The Battle and the War on Amazon, while continuing to grow Jaia Locs into a premium, empowering experience for my clients-now located in Tampa, Florida.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that has served its purpose and must now be released is my life as I’ve known it in Atlanta. As a native, I’ve watched the city transform and have been delighted to experience much of its beauty and growth. But my purpose is calling me to a new state, a new chapter, and I must release all that I’ve known there. That would be the routines, the familiar places, and the comfort , while holding tightly to who I am at my core. It’s time to step boldly into something new, somewhere new, trusting God to guide this next season.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain and started using it as power when I decided to write my book, The Battle and the War, and full step into my calling as a faith-based content-creator. That moment marked a shift from carrying my struggles silently to turning them into a platform for healing, truth, and empowerment for others.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what really matters to me is faith, purpose, and helping others heal. They know I’m passionate about truth, authenticity, and walking in alignment with God’s calling and not just for myself, but for everyone I encounter. They would also add that entrepreneurship as well.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I understand deeply the reality and prominence of spiritual warfare and how the spiritual realm is constantly at work around us, even when most people don’t see it. As a Christian, I’ve learned that the battles we face aren’t just physical or emotional; they’re often spiritual, and recognizing this changes how we pray, make decisions, and walk in faith. Most people underestimate the unseen forces influencing their lives, but when you see it clearly, you begin to live intentionally, armed with God’s truth and power.
