Story & Lesson Highlights with Jamie Steinberg of Fort Lauderdale

Jamie Steinberg shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I recently interviewed Rainn Wilson who played Dwight on the beloved series “The Office.” My boyfriend passed away a few years ago and “The Office” was one of his go-to favorite shows for a good laugh. I was unusually nervous the night before, but I managed to conduct the interview with my consistent poise. However, at the end, I took a couple minutes of Rainn’s time to tell him how much his work on “The Office” meant to my boyfriend. It filled my heart to be able to get that off my chest and express my gratitude to Rainn.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the Managing Editor of the publication Starry Constellation Magazine. Starry Constellation Magazine includes celebrity and musician interviews, movie & DVD reviews and so much more! It attracts a sizable amount of readers and is an interest to many. Previous interviews that we have conducted include Sylvester Stallone, Olivia Colman, Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Zoe Saldaña, Renée Zellweger, Eric Bana, Ewan McGregor, Jason Ritter, Timothy Olyphant, Garrett Hedlund, Skeet Ulrich, Eli Roth, Pablo Schreiber, Jason Isaacs, Thomas Haden Church, Olivia Munn, Octavia Spencer, Stephen Moyer, Rosie Perez, Rodrigo Santoro, Ed Helms, Dylan McDermott, Josh Duhamel, Mindy Kaling, Carol Kane, Eva Longoria, Timothy Simons, Jimmy Smits, Jake Johnson, Billy Bob Thornton, Keri Russell, Dove Cameron, Rachel Griffiths and many more!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
None of the questions in this section apply to me.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
When I was a child, I used to be very shy to talk to adults. If a family member asked me to go to an adult and ask them for something, it would make me terrified. Now, I’m the complete opposite. It’s okay to speak up and ask for help, let alone make a request. There is no harm in using your voice and you will be heard.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
There used to be a beauty standard in the entertainment industry. Thin, expensively dressed women and well chiseled men got attention. These days the world has become more body positive. Beautiful women and good-looking guys come in all shapes and sizes and are celebrated. It is nice to live in a society where we do not to have to be so obsessed with weight and appearance any longer. We can be comfortable, powerful and feel beautiful in our own skin – as is.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Not our customers…but the connections we have made with publicists, managers and talent agents. Our publication prides itself on asking questions to the celebrities we interview in a well-researched and personable capacity. We make sure to ask questions that are not redundant and in a way that gets the individual to open up more. We chat with them like they are speaking to a friend and that makes the environment more comfortable. We are constantly getting compliments on the great questions we ask and the kindness we exude.
