We recently had the chance to connect with Jennifer Calvillo and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am most proud of building a legacy for my daughters — a foundation of strength, love, and purpose that will continue for generations to come. My life wasn’t easy. I was raised by a single father after losing my mother to ovarian cancer, and at just eight years old, I had to grow up fast. Overnight, I went from being “mommy’s little girl” to becoming the little woman of the house. I learned to cook, clean, wash clothes, and translate for my father in Spanish — responsibilities far beyond my years.
While life felt unfair at times, I now understand that every challenge shaped me into the woman I am today. Through my father’s wisdom and God’s grace, I transformed pain into purpose. My father was my greatest teacher — he taught me resilience, work ethic, and unconditional love. Even though he’s no longer here, his spirit lives within everything I create.
Today, I’ve built multiple businesses — not just for myself, but for each of my daughters and the generations to follow. My deepest pride comes from knowing that my father’s sacrifices and God’s strength continue through me, and that my daughters will inherit not just success, but a story of faith, perseverance, and legacy. The world may see my achievements, but behind every success are storms that tested me — and a heart that never gave up.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! I’m Jennifer Calvillo, a beauty and business entrepreneur dedicated to helping others transform their passion into profit — both in the beauty industry and the digital space.
I’m the founder of Scalp & Skin Solutions, a holistic hair and skin brand focused on healing from the inside out through natural ingredients, education, and self-care. What makes my brand special is that it’s not just about creating great products — it’s about empowering others to understand the “why” behind them, blending science, spirituality, and strategy to create true transformation.
In addition, I created How to Go Digital, & The Burntout Stylist, an educational platform that teaches individuals — especially hairstylists, creators, and small business owners — how to build digital brands, create online income, and gain financial freedom through their unique skills and stories.
My journey started behind the chair as a hairstylist, where I saw the burnout, financial limitations, and untapped potential in so many talented individuals. That inspired me to create systems, digital products, and education that help others scale their businesses online while maintaining balance, confidence, and purpose.
Today, I’m working on expanding my academy, building digital platforms, and creating accessible tools — eBooks, courses, and branded workbooks — to help others achieve spiritual, personal, and financial growth. My mission is simple: to help others heal, grow, and build generational wealth — digitally and naturally.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Before I ever understood my own strength, my father saw it in me. He recognized something powerful in his little girl — even when I was just trying to survive the loss of my mother. He saw my resilience, my determination, and my heart long before I knew what any of that meant.
He believed I could rise above hardship, and because of his faith in me, I learned to have faith in myself. My father guided me through pain with love, patience, and wisdom. And when he could no longer be here, God continued that vision — shaping me, refining me, and reminding me that everything I had lost would one day become the foundation of everything I was meant to build.
So, who saw me before I could see myself?
My father — through love.
And God — through purpose.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were seasons when I was exhausted from fighting battles no one could see. As a woman, a mother, an entrepreneur — there were nights I cried in silence, feeling like I had to be strong for everyone else while my own heart was breaking.
But every time I wanted to give up, I remembered who I was fighting for — my daughters, my father’s legacy, and the purpose God placed inside me. I realized that giving up would mean letting pain define me instead of allowing it to refine me.
So, yes — there were times I wanted to give up… but I didn’t. I chose faith over fear. I chose to turn pain into power. And I learned that every storm I’ve survived has only been preparing me for the blessings that were waiting on the other side.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
In both beauty and business, the world often focuses too much on image and not enough on integrity. But I believe true beauty begins within — in how you make others feel, how you treat people, and the heart and honesty behind your work.
Not all money is good money, and not every opportunity is aligned with purpose — the same goes for people. I’ve learned that respect, compassion, and authenticity go further than appearances ever could.
The beauty industry tends to pick and choose who it celebrates, often overlooking those who don’t fit a certain mold. That’s why I’ve created a space built on safety, inclusivity, and acceptance — a place where people can embrace their natural beauty and feel seen for who they truly are.
To me, that’s the real meaning of beauty — not perfection, but presence. Not the image you project, but the energy you carry. That’s where true transformation begins.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when I’m with my daughters — when the world slows down and we’re simply together. There’s something sacred about sitting beside them, reading a book page by page, listening to their laughter as they share their stories from the day. A home-cooked meal fills the air, and soft violin music plays in the background — it’s calm, it’s love, it’s everything that truly matters.
In those moments, I’m reminded that peace doesn’t come from success, titles, or recognition — it comes from presence. From knowing that despite everything I’ve overcome, home is where my heart has healed. That’s my peace — my daughters, our stories, and the simple beauty of being together.
