Jeremiah Simmons shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Jeremiah, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
A bit of both? I do believe in the path, but its not always clear. Often things will turn out in ways you could never expect, good and bad.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My artist name is Miah Sounds. I’m a composer, guitarist and producer currently based out of Las Vegas. In addition to my local performance work as a blues musician, I write and produce for short films, private projects, and myself. Most recently, I’ve been working on my first full length album. It is a southwestern rock album featuring some of the best music I’ve put together in my career.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I was 17, I saw the soul vocalist Malford Milligan. It was one of the most emotional performances I’ve still ever seen. Afterwards, we spoke and I asked for advice. He told me that every time you play, every time you perform, every time you create, you have to do it like you’re breaking out of jail. Like its the last thing you’ll ever do. Leave it all there, because you might not ever be able to do it again.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I think most artists struggle with a fear of not being good enough. It holds us back from expressing our art to is full potential.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
Many modern musicians are chasing an image of success. Social media and influencers feed into that, but true success is often quiet, personal, and far less glamorous than is often portrayed.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Life is short. This has been a transformative year for me. I’ve lost alot, and have friends that have lost similarly. Whatever time you think you have left, you don’t. Don’t postpone your projects or your passions, because you already don’t have enough time left to get them done.
