We recently had the chance to connect with Jessica Bosman and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Mornings begin with getting my little one ready for school and a much-needed cup of coffee. After drop-off, I take care of appointments and dive into restocking a few handmade products. Once that’s flowing, I’ll grab a quick bite before heading to the shop to open the doors for our community of shoppers and artists
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Jessica, the maker and heart behind Desert Moon 25 and Desert Moon Studio in Twentynine Palms. My journey started with a love for crafting eco-friendly, small-batch bath and body products like soaps, sugar scrubs, candles, and skincare that bring a little everyday luxury into people’s lives. Over time, that passion grew into creating a space where community, creativity, and self-care meet.
At Desert Moon Studio, we offer hands-on art workshops for all ages, a curated shop filled with plants and handmade goods, and a small lounge where people can slow down and connect. What makes us unique is the way we blend artistry, wellness, and community into one experience—whether someone is hand-painting a canvas, pouring their own candle, or simply finding the perfect handcrafted product to brighten their day.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding our workshops, growing our product line, and continuing to make Desert Moon a space where creativity and self-care truly thrive.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The person who truly saw me before I even saw myself was my sister. We share so many similarities, but she’s always had a deeper awareness. She recognized my passion and what fueled me long before I did. She constantly reminded me of how proud she was of my drive and the way I went after my dreams.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I’ve learned that everyone carries pain, even if it shows up in different ways. For me, it was realizing I had been struggling with depression and needed to rediscover myself after becoming a mom. Acknowledging that truth has given me the strength to speak openly about it with others—and sometimes, that openness helps them on their own path to healing.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that family time means the most to me—and that I’m always looking for ways to create spaces where both my loved ones and the community can come together more often.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m painting in the shop. The quiet, sometimes accompanied by soft music, allows my mind to settle and focus. It’s in these moments that I’m able to create freely and work more efficiently and successfully.
