Story & Lesson Highlights with Jojo Alderson

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jojo Alderson. Check out our conversation below.

Jojo, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
My art practice. Is the thing I could keep doing day and night. It is like the puzzle that you just need to solve.
It brings me back to myself. When life gets busy it is the pillar that keeps me in check and brings me back to self.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is JoJo Alderson and I am an artist, designer and intuitive healer.
I was born in Sweden and now live in Ojai, after several years in Los Angeles, London and Paris.
With a background in high fashion and textiles, I use fabric, tufting, and embroidery to create works deeply influenced by the powerful legacy of women’s textile art, nature, and energy flow.

I am currently exhibiting in a group show at Still Gallery in Ojai, California. The show will be on until end of January 2026.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Learning about energy and intuition
Learning that everything is energy. That everyone has intuition. And that we have our own inner knowing that we can access at any time.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I am proud of you. Just be yourself, you can’t fuck up.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Jane Goodall pops into my mind.
She recently passed away, but she was just so amazing. She believed in making the world better and rather than focusing on what is bad she focused on the positives and how she could inspire and empower people to make good choices.
“every single one of us makes a difference every day – it is up to us as to the kind of difference we make”. – Jane Goodall

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, I always give it my everything. I would like to think that it is for me rather than for someone else.

In my art I have been working towards making my art for me first. Since I am coming from a design background I have spent a lot of time figuring out what people might want. Looking at trends etc. But didn’t really feel like that was working in my art making. The less I was thinking about what others might like the more interesting and unique my art became.
It is nice to get praises and feel like you are appreciated but I feel like it is important to be able to do stuff even if you might not get that.
