Story & Lesson Highlights with Kaytlin Brown of DFW (Dallas Fort Worth)

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kaytlin Brown. Check out our conversation below.

Kaytlin, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I truly find so much joy in being a wedding photographer—getting to capture people’s happiest days and give them a little time capsule of the moments they’ll cherish forever is such an honor. When I’m not working on weddings, editing, or other types of shoots, I’m very family-oriented and love spending time with my fiancé . With our wedding coming up on October 5, it’s been so special experiencing life as a bride while also walking alongside my brides as I photograph their weddings. It’s been such a privilege to see the wedding process from a whole new perspective.

Beyond photography, quality time with the people I love brings me so much joy. I’m very extroverted and community-oriented, so being around people truly fills up my love tank.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kaytlin Brown, and I am the photographer behind Kaytlin V Photography! I started my business in July 2022, and I absolutely love what I do!!! My passion lies in weddings and connecting with people to tell their unique love stories—capturing the essence of every moment leading up to their big day. Beyond weddings, I also love photographing people in all stages of life, from senior portraits and maternity sessions to engagements, families, and branding shoots. My mantra is that there’s no session I won’t do because, first and foremost, I love connecting with my clients.

I’m very people-oriented, and every session feels like a collaborative creative process—merging my clients’ vision with my own to create something artistic and meaningful. As an extrovert who loves people, this truly feels like my dream job.

One of the most exciting milestones for me in 2025 was photographing my very first destination wedding in Australia, which was a dream come true. Traveling is one of my biggest passions outside of photography, and I hope to continue merging the two, giving my clients a luxury-quality experience while connecting with them on a personal and approachable level. Some of my biggest goals include shooting a wedding in Europe and traveling the world to connect with people from all different cultures and walks of life.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Throughout my life, countless experiences have shaped how I view other people and the world around me. As someone who thrives on new and meaningful experiences, I’ve always craved adventure and growth. After graduating high school, I knew I wanted to see the world and honor the Lord in the process. I had planned to attend a mission school called Youth With A Mission, but there was a semester in between that I wasn’t sure how to spend. Encouraged by my family and my fiancé (then my boyfriend), I decided to start a business doing something I’m passionate about: creating art through photography and building something meaningful from the ground up.

While growing my business, I also embarked on transformative experiences—doing Youth With A Mission and spending three months in Kona, Hawaii, and three months in Mongolia, working with people from every walk of life imaginable. Those experiences taught me that I can step into uncomfortable spaces, persevere through challenges, and choose to love others well. They instilled in me the importance of putting others first and being thoughtful to the needs of those around me.

This mindset carries over directly into my business. I never want to lose sight of how I can love and serve people while running my company. That’s why I created a program offering discounted sessions for individuals working within the church or in missions. During the Christmas season, I also host a nomination program where followers can nominate families or individuals to receive a free photography session—whether it’s for business portfolios, family photos, maternity, or engagements.

Keeping my business rooted in giving and serving others has been incredibly rewarding. It reminds me that success isn’t just about what you can achieve, but how you can genuinely connect with and bless the people around you.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Truly, my relationship with the Lord has been the foundation of everything in my life—helping me overcome fear, anxiety, and stress. I formed a relationship with Jesus at a young age, and over time, I’ve cultivated a communicative, ongoing relationship with Him. I pray about all things, both in my business and personal life, trusting that God is active and cares about even the smallest details.

Often, we can feel like our problems are too big for Him, but I’ve learned that in moments of fear and vulnerability, He is right there with us, offering peace and comfort. The Bible reminds us that we are not given a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. When we pray and ask for strength, God is quick and kind to provide it, helping us fight against the fear or anxiety we may face.

I truly would not be where I am today without my relationship with the Lord. It is one of the most fundamental parts of who I am, guiding how I live, love, and lead in both my personal and professional life.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
A fundamental truth I hold is to consult the Lord on every decision in my business. While many people with a personal relationship with Jesus might pray about personal matters, I strive to involve Him in every aspect of my life—including business decisions. This even extends to choosing clients prayerfully, considering whether working together would be a good fit for both their vision and mine as their photographer.

I do this because I never want to fall into the mentality that it’s all on me—that I am a “self-made” person. While I have built my business, I know that it is not me who has brought every amazing client into my life. It is not me who gives direction and clarity in editing or who has been wise in managing the administrative side of photography. Every gift, tool, and skill I use is something the Lord has placed within me, and every client relationship has been orchestrated by Him. The favor over my business and the wisdom I rely on are His, not mine.

Another principle that is foundational to my work is doing everything with excellence and following the golden rule—treating others how I would want to be treated. Every time I work with a new client, I consider: How would I want to receive these photos? How would I want to be treated as a client? This philosophy guides not only the quality of the products I deliver but also how friendly, communicative, and timely I am. My goal is that every part of the experience flows from a place of care, thoughtfulness, and respect—giving my clients the experience I would want to receive myself.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
If I could choose how I’d love to be remembered, it would be as someone who loved others well. More than anything, I want people to say that they felt closer to Jesus because of knowing me—that my life was a light for His kingdom. In every season, whether professional or personal, my deepest hope is to reflect His love.

I’d want to be remembered as fun and adventurous, but also as someone who listens well, who cries with you in hard moments, rejoices with you in the good, and remains a loyal friend through it all. My grandmother always reminded me that people rarely remember the words you say, but they always remember the way you made them feel. I want people to feel loved, seen, and drawn to Jesus through every interaction with me, because every good attribute in me flows from Him.

This is also what I hope shines through in my business. On a wedding day, I want to be more than just a photographer—I want to be a steady, empathetic presence. Whether that means stepping into a moment of prayer, sharing in tears, or celebrating with joy, I hope my clients feel genuinely cared for, whether I’ve known them for years or just a few minutes.
