We recently had the chance to connect with Keira Leake and have shared our conversation below.
Keira , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
My days are always full and meaningful. I start by going to work, where I spend my time supporting and working with kids with special needs a part of my day that brings purpose and patience. After work I shift into my creative side doing nails and making sure each of my clients feels relaxed, cared for, and confident when they leave. Once I’m home, I cook dinner and then take time to prepare for the next day making sure everything is in place so I can do it all again with intention and balance.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a para-educator who works closely with children with special needs providing both individualized support and classroom assistance work that has truly shaped my patience, purpose, and passion. Outside of education I run one of my favorite creations KRL Nails, a business I started seven years ago. It’s my personal creative space where I get to make women feel beautiful, confident, and cared for plus enjoy the best kind of gossip sessions that give my clients a safe place to unwind and be themselves. I’m also a professional dancer currently on a pause to focus on my career, business, and mental well-being but I’ve been thinking a lot about stepping back into that lane next year. I’ve been taking time to grow, ground myself, and prepare for everything God has in store for me. I truly believe next year will be a great year, and I’m ready to take on whatever comes my way.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
God saw me clearly long before I ever truly saw myself. He understood my purpose, my strength, and my heart even when I couldn’t. I’m forever thankful for the way He continues to shape me mentally, physically, and emotionally giving me a clear mindset, keeping me grounded, and guiding me toward my goals and full potential. His vision for me has always been bigger than my doubts, and I’m grateful every day for the way He leads me.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Fear held me back in so many ways especially the fear of the unknown. Not knowing what comes next, not knowing the outcome, not knowing if the path I was on was the right one, or if I was headed toward something better or something worse. That uncertainty used to stop me from moving forward. It kept me questioning, doubting, and second-guessing myself. But acknowledging that fear is the first step in rising above it and learning to trust the journey.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what truly matters to me is helping others and making sure the people around me feel seen, understood, and supported. They know I care deeply about making others feel loved, heard, and valued. Whether someone is struggling or simply needs a little reassurance, I’m always the one who wants to lift them up and make sure they know they matter. That’s just who I am at my core.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had only ten years left, I would stop overthinking and stop letting life pass me by while trying to chase every dream, goal, and expectation. As humans, we spend so much time trying to figure out who we are and what we want that we forget to actually live. I would choose to be more present, breathe more, enjoy more, love more, and stop treating life like a race. The next chapter wouldn’t be about striving it would be about truly living.
