Story & Lesson Highlights with Kimberly Prada-Gonzalez of Springfield, MA

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kimberly Prada-Gonzalez. Check out our conversation below.

Kimberly, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90-minutes of my day consist of waking up, prayer, shower – getting my kiddo ready for the day (we homeschool) as well as making sure we hit the gym! The gym truly sets the tone for my entire day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello everyone,
My name is Kim Prada and I am the owner and founder of TRIBE POWER BITES LLC – a naturally sourced protein bite company right in the heart of Springfield,MA. We offer a variety of options to suit every customer’s unique needs, such as vegan, nut and dairy free choices!

How I got started was back in 2020 when I went from being a stay at home mom to a single mom. I had no job, no car, no place to stay, no money – just me and my 1 year old daughter. I began my power bites journey by making the power bites for myself as a healthier snacking alternative – to then later donating a batch to my mother’s church, without thinking anything of it!

The name ‘TRIBE’ came from the endless support I received from ‘strangers’ throughout my community. I wanted to give back to those who gave back to me – and so I named my business ‘ TRIBE’.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I am ‘incapable’ because of my upbringing or because of the many ‘stereo type/ labels I have.

Your circumstances do not define you – your choices do.

You can either CHOOSE to not break the cycles, or you can CHOOSE to be the ONE. And it only takes ONE PERSON to decide to break the generational cycles forever.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Food.
I used it as a tool to escape my chaotic environment.
I’ve had to heal a lot with my relationship towards food.
And that food is meant to heal us and not save us.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My daughter. And my freedom. I’ve turned down many opportunities to home school my daughter – even took a pay cut more than half just to be present with her. My mom was a single mom of 4, and she worked long hours and my siblings practically raised me. And all I needed or wanted as a kid was my mother’s time..

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Empathy and time.

Money comes and goes – time doesn’t.
Spend time with your loved ones.

As well as hold space for people, we all have a battle we’re enduring inside.
