Kristina Harris shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Kristina , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: When was the last time you felt true joy?
When I accomplish something dear to my heart. Reaching my goals or whatever it is I’m working towards. Doing things that I love doing. Walking in my purpose.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, My name is Kristina Harris. I’ve recently embarked on a new journey of writing books. My new title of being a children’s author. I love writing about stories that inspire and change lives. I’ve been an early childhood educator for years so it was easy making books for children.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was exactly who God created me to be very uniquely made. I always struggled my whole life knowing I was different. Always trying to fit in a mold. I was a strong independent child that loved creativity and art. I recently learned as an adult that I am on the spectrum for autism. Before my diagnosis I was always told something was wrong with me. Now I’ve been able to walk in my authentic self and freedom knowing that nothing is wrong with me.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me to keep pushing there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes if certain things don’t make sense they will eventually.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
My newest book “DORIS SAYS MODESTY MATTERS”,portrays a big cultural value that I want to share and protect. The value of modesty dressing. Seeing the value in being a gift and not object to the world. Teaching young ladies to honor themselves and God by dressing beautiful and modest.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What light inside you have you been dimming?
Sometimes we dim our light in life for others to feel comfortable and it leaves us feeling empty inside. This year and from now on I’ve choose not to dim my light to be my authentic self even if it means people don’t like it. To write about things that make my heart happy. That make a difference to me and to the world.
