Story & Lesson Highlights with LaRosha Paul, LE of District Heights

LaRosha Paul, LE shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

LaRosha , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yes, when it came to me securing a new location for my skincare business. The first location, I was going to go with would not have been the best decision for my business nor my clients as I provide intimate services. Clients want to be able to come in and relax not hear a lot of commotion going on. I was so excited, and something told me to go back to check the location out before paying my deposit and I am glad I did so. The location I ended up going with met all of my needs and my clients are loving it as well.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is LaRosha and I am the owner of Beauty Unveiled Aesthetics where I am a Licensed Esthetician located in District Heights Maryland specializing in corrective skincare and age management. I became interested in the beauty industry when I wanted to learn how to do makeup. I would play around with it on myself however didn’t really think that I would be able to do other’s makeup. This was also a way to help me deal with some of the trauma’s that I was dealing with as I struggled with navigating on my healing journey which led to me having low self-esteem. After practicing and attending classes, I was asked to do someone’s makeup for an event and that’s where my passion begin. I was getting more and more into the industry by learning how to do lash extensions then I signed up to be a representative for a Multilevel Marketing Company called Flori Roberts. Here I was making recommendations for skincare products not even having touch people’s skin. I myself had faced challenges with my skin since mt teen years. I really wanted to figure out a way to educate women and men on how to properly care for their skin and more so help women to become comfort without having to wear makeup. I felt as though I needed to really be more educated on the skin and the correct products to recommend to people to address their concerns so I went online and found a school that would fit my schedule that had great reviews and enrolled. This is where Beauty Unveiled Aesthetics was born.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
As someone who has struggled with navigating on my healing journey, I have held onto a lot of pain and hurt that caused me trauma. Holding onto this for so many years caused me to not be confident in myself, people please, and seek validation in all of the wrong places. Through therapy and working with a business coach, those things I once told myself are no longer. I had to forgive those who hurt me and also forgive myself in order for me to become the best version of myself. I can say over the past few months I have learned to set the day for my day with saying affirmations, my self-confidence is much better and I no longer seek a need for validation. This has also helped when it comes to my business because I am able to show up for my clients and provide them with the best customer service I can. I am very big on energy and do my best to bring the best in any environment that I am in.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
The one kind thing I would say to my younger self is you are beautiful! Growing up being of a darker complexion, I always felt overlooked. As I have gotten older, I have come to realize that no matter what color you are it’s about how you feel about yourself along with how you treat people.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Reading the entire bible. This is something I have stopped and started so many times. lol. I will say what is helpful now is attending weekly bible studies. We jump around in the bible but for the most part we go through each book. Right now, we are in Exodus and man it’s so good learning in there. lol

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
When I am in the house doing absolutely nothing. I will turn on the tv and watch Law and Order or catch a movie on Netflix. I will have a candle lit and I just lay there. That’s so peaceful for me because I do not feel like I owe anyone anything in that moment.
