Story & Lesson Highlights with Lauren Osselton

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lauren Osselton. Check out our conversation below.

Lauren, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think alot of us really struggle with feeling a sense of being ENOUGH. We live in a society that’s permeated by a media narrative of more, more, more. Acquire more, do more, see more, BE more.

I don’t think that many people even are AWARE of this undercurrent that permeates their life… this sense of never being or having enough. One of my greatest missions in my life and work is to create safe spaces for people of all identities to feel ENOUGH, seen and heard.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a soul’s purpose and human design coach, on a mission to help you uncover your purpose, cultivate self-trust & build unshakable confidence to allow your fullest self to EMERGE, all by embracing what actually works for YOU (based on your human design).

My mission is to cultivate safe and cozy spaces for you to peel back any layers that are no longer serving you and embrace what DOES.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Surviving a traumatic house fire and losing basically everything I own in 2022 was the greatest ‘wake-up call’ of my life. It made me realize what was really and truly important, and what wasn’t. It exposed me to life-altering trauma that I’d never felt before, giving me new opportunities to heal and understand the trauma of others more deeply.

After the fire, I pursued my coaching more boldly than I ever had before.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It’s okay to be playful and embrace the journey… You don’t have to take everything so seriously! Don’t be afraid to embrace your playful, goofy, ‘weird’ side – that’s what makes people really love you and SEE you for who you are. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, because that’s the only way you’re really going to learn anything. Mistakes aren’t so scary!

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I used to believe that ‘success’ wasn’t possible without working myself to the bone. I thought that for anything to be genuinely ‘worthwhile’ it involved struggle.

I know now that it’s really not true. When you’re living in deep alignment, it CAN be easy.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that people remember me as being a safe harbour. Someone they could turn to to provide guidance and space for them, no matter how dark their days. I hope that people remember me as being full of joy and laughter, pursuing my life so boldly and unconventionally, no matter what barriers I face. I hope people remember feeling so SEEN and HEARD by me, my work, my teachings and writings.
