We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lily Harris. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Lily, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My morning routine means a lot to me. It helps me tune in, organize thoughts, check my energy levels, & sets me up to feel my best throughout the day. I wake up early while it’s still quiet outside, swim laps, use the sauna if time allows, & carry on with breakfast before my work day begins.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lily Harris, also knows as Lily Feeds You online. I’m a holistic nutrition practitioner & recipe developer based in LA. I provide holistic nutrition support to 1:1 clients, I have a Patreon where I share healthy recipes & more, & have branched out into areas like private meal delivery & collaborations with aligned brands. To say I love my job is an understatement.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Growing up I had many health symptoms ranging from painful eczema, to digestive issues, chronic infections. & beyond. My Celiac Disease wasn’t fully confirmed until my 20’s, but I had spent my entire life focused on the root cause up to that point. The feeling of joy & freedom I found in my healing process brought me into holistic nutrition. I want to reduce the painful experiences of others while sharing the joyful & effective side of caring for our bodies. Having autoimmune diseases creates the super power of being able to tune into yourself & understand yourself much better than others ever will. I know that now. All of my health experiences & sessions with 1:1 clients further cement the knowledge that everyone is experiencing invisible struggles & empathy is necessary.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
If I’m being honest, I’d have to say the fear of being seen! That may sound surprising coming from someone who utilizes social media for work, but it was a huge learning process for me. Luckily I have a very wholesome following. Now I see sharing myself online as building trust with the community I’m trying to build around health & my private practice.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
There will always be individuals preaching fads & trends in order to get on the NYT bestseller list & using your fear in order to make sales. It’s really unfortunate because it makes it much harder for the individual who is trying to learn about their health to decipher truth from fiction, exaggeration, or oversimplification. I work with clients 1:1 to provide science-backed information that helps bust the myths that salesman share online. Ultimately, our bodies like their needs met consistently. Anything beyond that is either a helpful added bonus or modern snake oil. I didn’t get into holistic health to be a supplement pusher, salesman, or conwoman.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I could retire tomorrow, I’d still be working. I love my job!
