Story & Lesson Highlights with Lisa Rawling

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lisa Rawling. Check out our conversation below.

Lisa, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
As and individual and business I will have to say integrity. Why? Integrity helps us build a solid foundation of trust within our dynamic. Doing what’s right even behind the scenes, because what’s done in the dark always comes to light. I feel integrity helps me as a whole and and a business because I care deeply about the connection of my friends, customers, and my product.
I always encourage others to be their authentic and true self as we are what we attract. Being unapologetically you is the greatest gift you can give yourself in a form of self love and acceptance. I will like to say that integrity is one of my core traits in the sense of respect, communication, responsibilities, being trustworthy, and honest.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey y’all! I’m Lisa Rawling, the owner of Lisa’s Sugar Fix. A home based buisness serving the Greater San Antonio Area. I specialize in homemade cookies, brownies, and muffins. Over the past year my business has grown x3 and I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to meet that growing demand and I’m doing great so far! This growth has involved me investing in bigger equipment, perfecting my skills, and refining my process. One thing I will always praise is that no matter how high demand my business becomes, I will NEVER lower my quality. Only room for improvement! Every order is handmade by me and I pour my full heart into it. My mental health, creativity, and energy play a huge role in what I create and I believe that’s part of what makes it special. I’m not just baking, but I’m creating something meaningful and I’ll always show up with 100% passion as baking is something I’m truly meant to do. It’s my calling. Creating something from my hands and it being loved is the biggest reward I can get out of this craft. I’m so excited for what’s ahead and I absolutely cannot wait to share more sweet moments with y’all! I’m just getting started. ✨

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband. As someone who use to be considered broken, he saw the fire in me. He believed in me and still does until this day. His love is the greatest form of happiness I ever felt and because of that it has shaped me into the individual I am today. All it takes is ONE person to believe in you wether that’s platonically or romantically.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
The moment I stopped fearing my pain and chose to embrace it is when I began healing out loud. Openly sharing my mental health journey on my personal socials. I not only supported others in their healing but learned to show up for myself. Whether I was sad, tired, or overwhelmed. I’ve learned that my pain and anger transmute into a whole lotta passion, and I’ve used that passion to fuel my growth, purpose, and success. We always focus on the negative traits of our mental health, but what about the positives? I may feel very deeply as I’m diagnosed bi polar, but that brings a whole different level of passion and determination.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. Whether you know me as your favorite baker or as a close friend, what you see is what you get. I show up as the same person anywhere I go. I’m someone who leads with kindness, brings laughter, and creates a sense of safety to my dynamics. I tend to break the ice on certain topics so I have people feel instantly comfortable around me. I can read people really well so that helps a ton! I have this thing I live by is that I treat people the way I want to be treated. The raw, genuine energy I bring isn’t just part of who I am it’s the reason I connect so deeply with others and why my business has flourished. Caring for people comes naturally to me and I feel that authenticity is what makes it all work and why abundant energy comes so naturally to me.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
Most of the time it’s always a concert! I always look forward to my bulk baking days. It is always so peaceful and grounding as I state it is my therapy and my coping mechanism. The real excitement happens when the house is empty. That’s when I blast my music, sing at the top of my lungs, and dance. I lose all track of time because I’m having that much fun while I create. It’s joy, freedom, and purpose all baked into one!
