Markane Alan shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Markane , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: When was the last time you felt true joy?
I am recently married as of month ago. And kept feeling so different inside a heightened happy. I realized this must be what joy feels like! It was a freeing feeling that I never felt before!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Markane Alan I am the owner of Fight For Your Life FFYL Brand. The Brand that Speaks to the Within we not only supply clothing but mentoring, fitness, wellness, coaching, and speaking engagements regarding the importance of mental health and overall health. We also have Fight For Your Life Radio Show as well Power of a Hour which are dedicated not only to discussing various topics surrounding personal growth. Yet we invite many guest on both platforms that are doing things to change the world and or have an impact on the communities.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
I would say my granddad and my uncle Mark taught me most about work. It is definitely where my diligent work ethic comes from.
I worked with my granddad one day as child I was 7 or 8 years old. I watched him work in the sun until he was soaked. Then we went to another house and another he did the same thing all day. He did it with a smile and kind to all his customers. We got home he cleaned up the next morning he took my grandmother to get groceries. Even as a little I can remember being amazed with he does all that so we can have food. That day and even today I can not waste food ever. I watched him go get groceries for people and take them to the doctor. Most of all I saw him be a good man before anything!
My uncle Mark would take me to different experiences my first movie, my first Waterpark, my first back office of a restaurant. As little guy maybe 9 years old at this time I watched my uncle run around a restaurant from the kitchen to customers managing sternly yet with a smile and kindness. I watched how being a good man made others rise to the occasion or fall by the waist side. I watched him do this in different cities and states. From these two men I learned it was ok to be myself always you may have to play the game sometimes yet you don’t have to conform. And both of them always supported me just being born a creative. Which doesn’t mean they didn’t stay on me about character, integrity, and most of all discipline.
Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
I truly miss being able to turn on the radio and hear good music that’s not overly sexualized or death. Everyone sounds the same!
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Jordan Peterson if you don’t know him get in tune!
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes infinite percent whether there are applause or not! It’s all about service and making something better than it was when you found it or got there!
