We recently had the chance to connect with Oksana Taratula and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Oksana, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I believe integrity is the most important of the three. While intelligence and energy are certainly valuable, integrity forms the foundation of trust and respect in any relationship, whether personal or professional. It drives my commitment to serve others through my business and charitable actions. By prioritizing integrity, I can ensure that my work not only reflects my values but also positively impacts those around me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
As a fortunate mother of two wonderful children, I firmly believe in the power of self-development through initiatives that aim to uplift others. I am the founder and President of Live Oil by Lesna (https://liveoilbylesna.com), a company dedicated to producing raw organic oils, plant-based protein powders, and natural skincare products. Our business specializes in crafting premium high quality food-grade oils from nuts and seeds using the purest production methods, ensuring that we preserve the remarkable benefits that nature provides.
Today, I proudly consider myself and my family as one of the pioneers in the field of purest oil production method in the US, striving to uphold the highest standards in quality and excellence. Our approach allows us to create the freshest and most beneficial raw organic oils, effectively serving as a bridge between nature and the final product. This commitment delivers the essence and authenticity that nature has graciously bestowed upon us. I take great pride in providing my customers with the purest products, ensuring they serve as nourishing foods that promote healing.
In addition to my work at Live Oil, I am the founder of the Ukrainian Women Association of America (UWAA) (https://www.uwaahelp.org), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children in need who have been affected by the war, including those with disabilities and serious illnesses. I am incredibly proud of the numerous initiatives launched by UWAA, all aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable children. I firmly believe that every child deserves a brighter future. As I often say, “Children raised in love and care grow up to be compassionate adults, creating a world where war has no place.”
Furthermore, I serve as an Advisor on the Board of Directors for GeCure (https://gecure.org), a nonprofit organization focusing on gene therapy research. GeCure unites scientists from around the world to advance healthcare through molecular genetics and fundamental research, aiming to help children with rare diseases.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I prioritize “integrity” as my primary goal in my social life, which is a crucial aspect of who I am because it aligns with my values of charity and personal growth. Throughout my interactions with various people, some come and go; some stay for a while before our paths part, and a few become lifelong friends who support me even if our goals no longer align. I also acknowledge those I’ve lost touch with and understand the reasons behind it.
The factors that can break genuine connections vary, but I’m dedicated to not giving up on people easily. I strive to maintain relationships, especially with those who were close to my heart. The most significant threat to a bond is often the betrayal of trust, which can lead to feelings of neglect and indifference, as well as a reluctance to resolve conflicts. This can create emotional distance.
Repairing broken bonds takes effort from both sides and a willingness to mend the relationship. However, it is entirely possible if both individuals are open to the process and committed to engaging in honest communication and moving forward together in not an easy work:)
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
It may come off as arrogant, but I often feel that I’m being listened to, heard, and respected. I’m truly grateful for that.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
That’s a great question! The public version of me is a reflection of my values, but it’s just one part of my identity. Like everyone, I have different layers, and while I strive to be authentic and straightforward, I also value my privacy and the personal aspects of my life. I think it’s interesting to explore how we all present ourselves in different contexts.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
It might sound a bit amusing, but I don’t have plans to retire; I intend to work until my very last breath because what I do truly nourishes my soul. I don’t see it as just work. That said, I strive to ensure that my products remain enjoyable and accessible to everyone, even after I’m gone 🙂
