Story & Lesson Highlights with Quantal Langford of Oceanside, California

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Quantal Langford. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Quantal , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I feel that I am walking a path. Like any quest that comes with opportunities and challenges. I’ve proposed a theory that I’ve mentioned on my podcast, the Creative Brew-that everyone is given breadcrumbs on their path. Those hunches, gut feelings or intuition that compels us to go a specific path that fits for each person. Sometimes we ignore the breadcrumbs, sometimes out of safety or comfort.

Those breadcrumbs is what leads us through the path that’s best for each individual. I try my best to go my path.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Quantal Langford, I’m a mix of different things. A designer, arts advocate, speaker, podcaster and wrestling coach. My main business is Langfordesign-a multidisciplinary design + creative + licensing company focused on building brand, creating worlds and cultivating stories.

Many of the clients I work ranges from small businesses, non-profit organizations, schools and sports teams.
Through my show the Creative Brew I share my insights on creativity and bring on guests to share their stories. I also give local shouts to small businesses, coffeeshops and events in the area.

My inspirational lifestyle brand called Just Heart is geared towards a mix of streetwear and athletic wear.

I also the co-creator of a wrestling based collectible card game and brand called Mat Clash. With orignal characters from me players can battle it out in a fast paced card game. We are currently building out an app for people to play online.

I’m also on the advisory board with Studio Ace Arts in Oceanside, CA. and a board member with Escondido Arts Partnership

And lastly I’m an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s wrestling teams at Palomar College. and the main head coach for the Compound MMA gym in Oceanside.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
There’s been many people in my life that’s taught me this. The very first one was probably my grandad. I remember a lot of summers being outside and working with him. In my eyes I didn’t see it as hard, I saw it as a way of life to produce and create what you wanted in the world. With him it was learning how to tend to a community garden, nurturing and watching it grow.

He had me doing other crazy things growing up, but to me it was a fun challenge. When you see it as that even though it could be hard it’s necessary to bring anything you want out into this world.

Now I learned later there is a difference between working hard and working smart.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Stay true to who you are. Trust yourself fully. Don’t let anyone dim your light. Follow the breadcrumbs.
Anytime I’ve done that I’ve seen really cool things come out of my life.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Feeling like they have to know all the answers. There is a difference between knowledge and wisdom.
Give yourself the opportunity to be curious about the unknown.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If immortality were real, what would you build?
If it were real. I would build something that would be beneficial to the planet. Either new ways of living or social systems that was in balance with nature.
With my creative mind, I would be a scalable, living city that would adapt to the needs of the people living there. self-sustaining ecosystem. That’s actually been on my mind for a while lol.
