Story & Lesson Highlights with Rahkim Sabree

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rahkim Sabree. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Rahkim, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
Very much walking a path. I like to think that my work, my interests, and my passions are in alignment. Not everyone can say that.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Rahkim Sabree. I’m a financial therapist, author, and speaker who focuses on the often-overlooked intersection of money and mental health, particularly financial trauma. My brand is built on the belief that financial struggles aren’t just about numbers on a spreadsheet — they’re about stories, culture, and lived experiences that shape how we see and interact with money.

What makes my work unique is that I don’t just talk about budgeting, debt, or credit scores in isolation — I bring a trauma-informed lens to financial education, highlighting the emotional and societal layers that drive financial behaviors. I’ve written for outlets like Forbes, been featured on major platforms, and work with organizations to provide workshops, keynotes, and consulting on how to create healthier financial cultures.

Right now, I’m working on my upcoming book, Overcoming Financial Trauma, which will be released with Wiley in November 2025. Alongside that, I’m building programs, communities, and tools that help individuals and organizations not only understand financial trauma but also heal from it. My goal is simple but ambitious: to change the conversation around money so people feel seen, supported, and empowered — not shamed.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Ever since I was a child my father told me I was god. Not “a” god, but god. I think I’ve always felt powerful but maybe afraid to demonstrate that power in instances where it could be misunderstood.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
People listen to me every day. I think that’s part of the role I fill is in being a bridge and a mirror. A bridge to connect thoughts, ideas, experiences for people. A mirror to show them who and what they are, as they are. With that I notice that when I speak or write, people pay attention.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I really like this question because my brand thrives on my integrity. Yes, absolutely the public version of me is the real me. I think sometimes I over share myself with my audiences at times.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me when I’m gone is that I made them feel safe. That I gave language to experiences people thought they had to suffer through in silence. That I stood as proof you can come from struggle, carry scars, and still create a life of impact and abundance.

I want people to remember me not just as someone who talked about financial trauma, but as someone who built bridges — between pain and healing, between scarcity and possibility, between isolation and community. My legacy isn’t about titles or accolades; it’s about the conversations sparked, the lives changed, and the systems shifted because I dared to tell the truth.

If the story told about me is that I left people with more hope, more courage, and more tools then I’ll know I did my part.
