Rebecca Pearl shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Rebecca Pearl, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
The moment I’ve felt most loved wasn’t in a relationship or from people—I found it in the presence of God. I used to believe that love and security would come from things like having a husband and a family. Along the way, if people hurt me or left, I would question if I was truly worthy of love, and wondered what I needed to do to receive it.
But I was met in the middle of that brokenness. I had an encounter that shifted everything for me. I met Jesus.
It can often sound like a cliché when people say this, but in all honesty, this really did change everything for me. It was no longer about what I could do or what I had to become. Before I did anything, God had already been in love with me. And it’s a love that doesn’t leave. It’s a love that sees all of me and stays. It’s a love that says, “Let Me take those burdens you’ve been carrying so you can finally rest in the riches I have for you.” It’s really amazing, actually.
This is what fueled my songs like “Able” and “I Found Love That Will Not Leave Me.” It’s meant for the ones who grew up without fathers, who struggled with abandonment and rejection. For the ones who felt like everything would fall apart. I want people to know that there is a love that won’t leave them, and that they can confidently rest in. You don’t have to test it, because it’s true. You just have to surrender.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Rebecca Pearl. I’m a singer, songwriter, actress, and the founder of Sweetest Melodies LLC and Overflow Naturals.
I write Christian Pop and R&B music that’s meant to heal and inspire—all for the glory of Jesus. Songs like “I Found Love That Will Not Leave Me” and “Flowers Bloom” come from real encounters with I’ve had with Jesus, and my hope and prayer is that listeners not only hear the music, but also experience the power and the presence of the One who never fails, and never leaves.
Beyond music, I started Sweetest Melodies LLC as a creative house at the intersection of music, film, art, and ministry. I also launched Overflow Naturals, a faith-inspired beauty brand, because I believe the way we care for ourselves can also reflect God’s abundance and intentional design.
What makes it all unique is that it’s not about me “arriving” at some perfect version of success. Everything I create—whether it’s a song, a business, or a devotional—is birthed out of my own journey of learning to lean into God’s love. And my hope is that people step into that same overflow, according to all that God has in store for them, through the things I share.
Right now, I’m working on my album Divine Alignment (set to release in Spring 2026), a devotional to accompany it, and expanding Overflow Naturals. At the end of the day, it all flows from the same well: helping people to meet and know the One who made them.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I was in the 4th grade, and all the kids from 4th and 5th grade had to write an essay on Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. I won best speech in my entire school.
I was so happy that day, but more than that, it was the first time I realized the power of words. Standing there as a little girl, I felt seen, and I understood that words could move people, and that I had a voice that people wanted to hear. Looking back, it’s no surprise that God kept using that gift in my life—through songwriting, through speaking, through everything I create. That moment planted a seed that’s still bearing fruit today.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Umm… yeah! Of course! I think everyone has had that moment or moments. It was not easy coming from a Caribbean family that believed high-level medicine and law positions were the pinnacle of success, and telling them you want to be an artist. For a long time I felt like I had to prove something, and I was delaying myself because I felt like I had to work my plan, and I wasn’t too concerned about God’s plan. When I finally surrendered and said to God, “You gave me these gifts and talents and dreams. Use them how You want to.” that’s when everything changed for me. I went back to my Manufacturer and got my instruction manual.
I went to my Maker to get my answers, and He gave them liberally. It’s funny—so many people try to go at it alone, when there is a God who is literally waiting for you to ask Him how He wants to move in our lives. And beautifully, His plans are WAY bigger and much more beautiful than ours ever could have been.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My faith, respect, integrity, and intimacy. I want to truly know my friends—their thoughts, desires, hopes, and dreams. Kind of like how God wants to know us. I want to be the friend who can cover you in prayer, and also frolic through the fields with you. I love building and growing with people, so embodying those characteristics is really important to me.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That they met and were saved by Jesus. That something about me or what I did, led them to the one whose name will never fade away.
I also want to know that I made a difference. That someone’s life was changed for the better because I made an impact on them in someway.
