We recently had the chance to connect with Roslyn Ellerbee and have shared our conversation below.
Roslyn, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Honestly, what’s been bringing me the most joy lately is being a “Big” in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. It’s such a fulfilling experience because I get to pour into my “Little” and be the kind of big sister I always wished I had growing up. Many of the kids in the program come from challenging backgrounds—some without both parents at home—and knowing that I can be a consistent, positive influence in someone’s life truly fills my heart.
It’s more than just volunteering—it’s about making an impact in my community, helping shape a young person’s future, and reminding them that they’re seen, valued, and capable of greatness. That’s what brings me joy outside of work—creating real change and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi — I’m Roslyn Ellerbee, a logistics business coach and strategist with over 13 years in the transportation and delivery industry. I am the proud owner of Express Errands & Courier (now operating as Express Errands & Courier Out), and I’ve dedicated my professional life to creating efficient, high-service delivery and errand solutions while helping others build their courier businesses.
In May 2024, I was honored to receive the title of Enterprising Woman of the Year, which remains one of the most meaningful milestones in my story. What truly makes my work interesting and unique is how I bridge two worlds: on one side, we’re a local carrier deeply committed to reliable, on-time deliveries and executive-level errand services, and on the other side, I mentor and coach aspiring entrepreneurs to launch and scale courier operations the right way.
Here’s what sets us apart:
At Express Errands & Courier, we don’t just perform standard courier runs — we also handle personalized errands for busy executives and businesses.
I saw a real gap in the courier industry: while the North American courier, express, and parcel (CEP) market is estimated at over USD 216 billion in 2025, it is growing.
Many new courier businesses are emerging each day, but they often lack solid, sourceable information and strategy. That’s where I step in: through coaching and training, I provide reliable, actionable guidance — helping entrepreneurs understand how to start a courier service, develop systems, and thrive in a competitive space.
Right now, I’m focused on two main initiatives: continuing to grow Express Errands & Courier Out as the go-to delivery and errand partner for executives and small to mid-sized businesses, and launching a live coaching cohort (which I refer to as The Courier Pro – https://thecourierpro.com ) where I’ll equip future courier business owners with the blueprint for success.
If you’re someone looking to navigate the courier services industry with clarity, strategy, and purpose, I’d love to connect.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the titles, the businesses, and the awards, I was just a little brown girl from Jacksonville, North Carolina, with big dreams and even bigger hopes. I always knew deep down that I was created for something greater than the limits of my surroundings.
Even as a young girl, I believed that my purpose went far beyond my zip code. I didn’t have a roadmap or examples of entrepreneurship around me, but I had vision, faith, and determination—and that’s what carried me. That little girl grew up to become a woman who built multiple successful businesses, mentored others, and now helps people see that their beginnings don’t define their destinations.
When I look back, I see that same spark that still fuels me today—the belief that no matter where you start, greatness is within reach.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell her, “You’re beautiful. You’re intelligent. And you are enough—just as you are.”
I’d remind that little girl from Jacksonville, North Carolina, that she doesn’t have to shrink to make others comfortable or doubt her dreams because of where she started. Every challenge she faced would one day become part of her story—a story that inspires others to rise above their circumstances.
I’d tell her to keep shining, to trust her instincts, and to know that the vision planted inside her wasn’t by accident. It was a purpose. And one day, that purpose would help her become a leader, mentor, and voice for women in business and logistics all over the country.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Honestly, I think a lot of smart people are getting it wrong by believing that hard work alone guarantees success. We live in a world where hustle is glorified—but strategy is what truly moves the needle. You can be the hardest-working person in the room, but if you don’t have systems, structure, and clarity, you’ll eventually burn out or stay stuck in survival mode.
I see this all the time in the courier and logistics industry. So many bright, capable people want to start their own courier service, but they jump in without understanding contracts, pricing, or how to actually scale. That’s why I created The Courier Pro – https://thecourierpro.com —to close that gap. It’s not about selling a dream; it’s about teaching the blueprint—how to build a sustainable, profitable courier business the right way, with guidance from someone who’s been in the trenches for over 13 years.
Smart people don’t fail because they lack intelligence—they fail because they skip the strategy. My goal is to help them stop guessing, start planning, and build with purpose.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I’ve come to understand that alignment is more powerful than ambition.
So many people chase success, money, or recognition—but they do it out of alignment with who they truly are or what they’re called to do. I’ve learned that when you’re aligned—when your purpose, values, and work are in sync—you don’t have to force opportunities; they flow to you.
In business, especially in the courier and coaching world, I’ve seen people burn out trying to “grind their way” to success, when what they really needed was clarity and alignment. When you operate from a place of purpose instead of pressure, your energy shifts—you make better decisions, attract the right people, and build something that actually lasts.
That’s the deeper truth I’ve learned: success without alignment is just achievement. But success with alignment—that’s legacy.
